“Give it a try”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2012

The train is limited as far a travel, but the museum and the staff are great. The staff is willing and able to answer any question posed to them and if they don't have the answer they tell you and then try to find out the answer. This is worth a stop just to see the exhibit in the train car.

“call and ask if its still a reduced ride to a 2 min ride - 500 yards”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2012

Too far for so little. Call make sure is not the reduced ride of 2 minutes. Too little for sich a pondrive. Such a piety. Because I do love old locomotives.

“A great stop even without the Polar Express”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2012

We stopped at the museum after Tanglewood. I was disappointed to find out that the Polar Express was not running this year. But the stop there was still well worth it. The trip through the yard was short but fun. And we spoke with Walt on the trip and I got a private tour with Bill. I learned alot of history that I was not aware of. Everyone there was very knowledgeable on all aspect of the railroad and railroad life as it was.
Definitely make the Railroad museum a stop on your trip or vacation into the area.

“No More Train Rides at BSR”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2012

If you look on the website you'll be disappointed to see that all train rides have been cancelled for 2012 season becauseThe BSRM does not own or control the tracks over which it operated train rides. Train rides were made possible through an agreement between the Massachusetts Department of Transportation and the owner of the tracks, the Housatonic Railroad Company of Canaan, CT. The agreement has expired and despite the efforts of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation and local community leaders, the owner of the Housatonic Railroad has chosen not to negotiate the renewal of the trackage rights and has stated this decision is final. Therefore, BSRM will not be able to operate any train rides. Too bad because my husband and I went on a ride a few years go and it was nice.
