“Our favorite meeting place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

Once a month a group of us meet at Sullivan's for lunch. It's an hour and a half drive for all of us and we are now into our 7th month. Their menu has unique specials and the regular menu choices are great. The scallops are a favorite of the group. The French onion soup is crusty and cheesy. All of the sandwiches seem to be over-stuffed with great meats.
While we were there a train did go by. The walls are full of interesting pictures of trains and all things related to trains. The wait staff was very attentive to our needs. We are now known as the New York & Connecticut group. Can't wait 'til August for our next lunch.

“Excellent Dinner!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2012

We had an excellent dinner at this restaurant. Our waitress Sandy was very nice and offered good suggestions for our meal choices. We chose the Veal Station Special, the stuffed eggplant, and the Veal Oscar, all of which were delicious. There was also live entertainment. The guitar player had a good voice and played country, Neil Diamond, and other easy listening tunes. One note that was not in our guide is that the restaurant is closed on Monday.

“Unfortunately, a strong candidate for Food Network's "Restaurant Impossible"”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2012

My wife and I visited on a weeknight recently after purchasing a "Berkshire Big Deal" coupon ($25 for $50 of food). Sullivan's space is a pleasant, converted railroad station - decor is basic and nothing special, but nice enough. Unfortunately, both the service and food were very disappointing. Our waitress was friendly, but failed to execute on almost every request we made. I had to ask two times for my drink. They ran on out of blue cheese dressing, so put another type on without asking what I'd like, and instead offered to bring out blue cheese crumbles. Reasonable - but the crumbles never came. Once I asked for a second drink and that didn't come, I just didn't ask again and had water. The service was also incredibly slow - 25 minutes for the appetizer to come out, and the restaurant was not full.

The salads were fine, and our entrees were decent. The NY strip was of good quality and cooked well. Unfortunately, my wife's lobster special was chewy, both of our sauces were extremely salty, and the crab cake appetizer was poor. It was loaded with spice which totally overwhelmed any other flavor, and was mostly chewy bread rather than crab. The execution and quality were not worthy of the price point that Sullivan's is charging - $10 for the appetizer and low-$20s for the entrees.

In summary, Sullivan's lacked the basics I'd expect in a restaurant of half its price, and even with the half-price coupon, I left feeling disappointed and overcharged for the experience we'd received. There are many far-better, moderately-priced restaurants to choose from in the Berkshires.

“One of our local favorites”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2012

We live in the Hills, dine out once a week or more. Attracted to Sullivan Station by the change of ownership. Had a delightful dinner, including a nice stuffed mushroom appetizer, salad, well-prepared swordfish entree with choice of baked sweet potato or rice pilaf, both excelkent, and nice sauteed snow peas. Wine was a very smooth and fruity sauvignon blanc. Service was faultless and personal. The 19th Century railroad station is restored and beautifully maintained. Its paneling and high ceilings make for good acoustics for dinner conversation. The bar is long, cheerful, and popular in its own right. A train rumbled past while we were there, proof that railroads still move freight in the Berkshires. Sullivan Station is conveniently located half way between the turnpike and Tanglewood or the Shakespeare Theater.

“A pleasant respite before a long drive home”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2012 via mobile

When the Foodie Pilgrim explores the Berkshires, Sullivan Station is a safe haven for local fare (including music) before the long drive home go Plymouth. We would dine there more often if your hard - working Pilgrim could count on the Greylock gin to accompany a burger...
