This hotel was mentioned in my TripAdvisor newsletter, so I went to the website & submitted a reservation request right away to get rates/availibility. Terri (one of the owners) communicated with me any time I needed something & answered all of my questions, and booked our preferred weekend.
The best part - our room was only $68 a night on the weekends (non-holiday weekend: May 31-June 1). It was an adorable little efficiency (2 burners, small dorm fridge, sink, and accompaniments for two). We had a king size bed with a sitting area, and our friends (another couple) had two doubles.
Bathrooms were exceptionally clean, with real tile floors and walls. Entire room felt & smelled clean, and there was no "g--k" on my feet walking around barefoot that is common even at the finest hotels.
We had a disastrous trip driving out there which landed us in at 2AM. When we'd called Terri, she put the keys for our rooms & a note in an envelope w/directions of where to park, which keys work which doors, and what time breakfast & our whale watch in the morning was, and hid it (in a secret location - won't post here in case someone else needs to do it).
Keep in mind that at this point I still had not even given her a credit card to reserve our room, yet she took care of us.
The beds were perfectly comfortable - probably not $1,500 5-star Hilton beds, but I am usually a little pikcy and I slept fine.
Breakfast is a simple continental: croissants, cereal, bagels, donuts, juice, coffee, raisin bread, a big toaster, and actually pretty good coffee.
They have discounted whale watch tickets (they're still expensive, but less than at the port) so she set ours up for us (called them for us, got the weather for us, etc.).
Our whale watch due to the high seas and unexpected wind/storm coming in was, um, eventful (saw plenty of whales, but feared for our lives and our green stomachs on the way back!), but that's nothing the Inn could have helped with. I get the feeling Terri & Al's input is important to the company because they had called them to ask them if we had talked to them about it & were worried.
Another indication of their "pull" in the area is that when a local gift shop (down by the clam shack restaurant by the ferries - at most .75 miles) heard we were staying there she gave my husband a refund of ~10% because SeaCoast guests are supposed to have a discount.
On Sunday we decided to ride our bikes to a few beaches, so she gave us a map w/directions to a local one & we took a little trip. She packed up (free) the remainder of the breakfast snacks so we'd have a boxed "snack" for while we were riding, and asked us if we had a backpack. We realized that while we remembered several totes, none of us thought of the backpack. So, she went in the back and gave us *hers* to use.
My friends the entire time (I booked all the details, they joke that we did all the work & they just showed up for a fun & inexpensive vacation) were wondering "OK, we've slept two nights in a lovely hotel and been on a whale watch, yet no one has asked us for money." When we were figuring out our Sunday bike ride/beach venue, they let us have a later checkout so we could shower before our long ride back after being sweaty & sandy.
I had read one comment saying that the hotel was really far from the beach, but I beg to differ. We could see the harbor from the sidewalk directly in front of the Inn (no rooms have that view, but that's exactly what they say on the website). The nicer beach may be closer to 1.5-2 miles or so, but we biked it (inexperienced bikers) in about 20 minutes. The ferries, port, park, and other really pretty areas were within a 5 minute walk. When we checked out, we drove down to that area to eat at the Clam Shack restaurant, couldn't find parking, so came back & parked back at the hotel & walked.
SUMMARY:
*Rooms were Clean & Nice
*Location very convenient
*Service does not have words to DESCRIBE it - I say it is like staying with Aunt Terri and Uncle Al because they're nurturing/take care of you like family, but aren't oppressive like staying with parents could be:)
*Still can not believe the price. Even on a holiday weekend the price is affordable, especially for the Cape.
*They book up fast though. I actually hesitate to post this now because we want to book at least one more trip this summer and another in the fall with more friends and family... hmmmm...
This will be our permanent "home" in the Cape.
(PS I will add photos once I have a chance to get them off my camera!)
