I have been staying at the Hyannis Travel Inn for over 25 years. My children loved it when they were young and still come stay there now. It has a very convenient location. I just love being there and relaxing. I love Cape Cod and the Hyannis Travel Inn.

“Great Hotel -- Great Price”

I try to spend 2-3 weeks down the Cape each year, generally (2) in the summer. I have been associated with this hotel for years and have gotten to know the owner, Liam Monaghan. Liam has always been very accommodating when I go there in giving me a great price and even the room I want since I have two rooms of preference . . . one is what I call my "off" season and the other my "summer." room Not only is Liam very accommodating but most of his staff is as well. The newest manager, Sharita, is pleasant, friendly and also goes out of her way. I am very appreciative of the personal attention the hotel staff exudes. I must admit that I have tried "other" places in the area of Hyannis and always return to the Hyannis Travel Inn because I feel it is the best hotel for the best price!

Thank you,
Karen Visone (E. Boston)

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights (Sept 10-13) we used a coupon ($56.95 per night) from the RoomSaver Traveler Discount Guide we recieved at a Tourist Information Stop. For that price the place was a very good deal! It is only a block off Main Steet where there are lots of shops and restaurants. Be sure to eat at the British Beer Company on Main St just a few minutes walking distance from the hotel. The food is GREAT and so is the service and price. We ended up there three times.

Otherwise I don't disagree with the other reviews, this place is not a Hilton or Marriott, more like a Super 8 kind of place. Doors are a little flimsy with key locks which I do not care for but we had no problems.

Most of the tourists staying while we were there were older (60's) from UK and Australia so we figured it could not be too bad or they would not stay here. Walking distance to the ferry docks. A/C worked and shower/bath was fine. For this price I would stay here again.

WiFi only in the Pool Area and if your room was close enough to the pool. We were on the 3rd floor in the front build on North St in room 311 and we add 50% signal which was enough to access the Internet just a little slow.

Some traffic noise off of North St until about 9pm or so I would recommend asking for a room on the parking lot side.

“Avoid the units in the small outbuilding!”

This place has a number of separate buildings. The main one, which contains the office and pool, seems nice enough, but the small outbuilding where I stayed was barely adequate. The carpet was in desperate need of cleaning (I wore flip flops rather than go barefoot on it), the bedding was low-quality and tired, and the bathroom was tiny and basic. The only extras were towels and soap, so if you plan to wash your hair bring your own shampoo. The TV remote, which I received at check-in, didn't work; when I told the fellow at the desk he said "Sometimes they are the wrong brand" and that was that -- luckily I wasn't in Hyannis to catch up on TV, so I made do changing channels manually. The door stuck and the lock seemed flimsy and worn, and the walls and ceilings were thin so I pretty good idea what the family upstairs was up to.

On the plus side the air conditioning worked and the windows open (although one was broken and wouldn't lock), most of the desk staff I encountered were cheerful and helpful, and the location is hard to beat -- only a couple of blocks from the harbor.

Also before I checked in management, to their credit, suggested I have a look at the room -- so really I have only myself to blame: I knew what I was getting into. It should have been a clue that rooms in the outbuilding were available a day before a sunny weekend in early September, when most other places in town (and out on the road near the Cape Cod Mall) were booked. That's what I get for not booking ahead on Cape Cod in late summer!

There are a lot of other places in town, as well as lots of other great beach towns on the Cape, so in the future I'll try to plan ahead and stay at a nicer place -- or at least try for something in the main building!

“Bloody Sheets!!!!”

Hyannis Travel Inn

Aug 30, 2006
3/5 found this review helpful

My family just returned home from the Hyannis Travel Inn.
At 10:00, while I was putting my children to bed, I found that the sheets on the bed had not been changed, the problem was not hair or sand, but BLOOD!! I called the front desk and was told that the room had been cleaned as a stayover, not a new booking. I changed the sheets myself and was told the manager would be in tomorrow. No apologies. spoke to the manager the next day, she told me to see her when I checked out, again, no apology.
Other than the location, this place is not worth staying at.
