“Good food. Nice atmosphere, but a bit overpriced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

I had read great things about the outdoor seating/atmosphere of this place. Unfortunately when my husband and I went it was chilly and a bit rainy, so we ate inside. Inside was nice and quaint. The outdoor seating did look amazing, the garden/flowers were breathtaking! For a saturday night it was VERY slow, which made us a bit nervous. The food was very good, but we thought overpriced. I had shrimp scampi, very good and my husband had the burger, which he enjoyed, but I think it was about $13! We would go back only to experience the outdoor atmosphere and maybe just get drinks/ appetizers.

“Delish!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2012

Our party of four had four delicious dinners! Our server Peter made some great recommendations and we all enjoyed our meal. The live music was delightful and the atmosphere was superb! We will definitely return for another terrific experience at the Eclectic Cafe!

“superb food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012

We went there after a wet day and were seated outside on the patio between two heaters. Mellow low key live music. They had two specials halibut and lamb.I had scallops to start and they were absolutely delicious. Three scallops with a hint of asian spice powder and a watercress salad. Then I had the lamb. A superb fat free loin of lamb cooked pink with an artichoke puree, deep fried beignets of aubergine and cherry tomatoes. It was one of the best meals I have eaten in a long time. My companions had the halibut and both of them raved about it. Also the portions were small enough that you could eat them all. As a European I cannot understand why American restaurants think you are not properly fed unless they throw out 1/2 the food they serve you. For the first time in the states I had room for dessert - an absolutely superb watermelon sorbet. Unfortunately perfection does not come cheap. Total cost for one starter three main courses and one dessert was about €130. With one bottle of wine $35 two glasses of red and an after dinner drink listening to the music the total bill including tax and service came to $270. Still well worth it.

“Beautiful patio dining”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2012

While the atmosphere was perfect and the staff very accommodating (they were more than happy to move us to a corner table when we asked), the food didn't quite live up to the exciting descriptions on the menu. The arugula salad was mostly arugula; we had to hunt for the pecans and the asiago shavings. The field greens salad was outstanding however, completely living up to its promise. The pan-seared scallop app was perfectly cooked and the pea greens unusual and delightful, but the carrot purée tasted nothing like carrots. We couldn't quite name the flavor, but it wasn't altogether pleasing. The clam chowder was just average (in an area where it is a mainstay). The pecan-encrusted salmon was a perfect 10. The food was a bit disappointing after such high hopes. With all the good restaurants on the Cape, we would probably not go back.

“Oasis in Downtown Hyannis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2012

Off the tourist-jammed, t-shirt shop abundant streets of Hyannis, this cafe is a pure delight. Ecelctic was recommended to us by our Inn hosts, and how glad we are to have found it. The very pleasant young lady at the podium out front walked us down the brick path scattered with benches (great for sitting to have a drink and listen to the music) and foliage. At the end of the path, you may take your pick of dining at a candle-lit table on the patio or in the tranquility of the restaurant inside. Although we would have enjoyed the saxophone player on the patio, it was humid so we decided to enjoy dining in the a/c. Peter was our waiter, and he was exceptionally pleasant as well as being helpful in detailing the menu's offerings. We had planned just to have dessert, but the cheese platter caught our eye so we ordered it. There was blue cheese, brie, and smoked gouda along with brioche and candied nuts. The presentation was so lovely that a photo of the appetizer was taken just before it was delivered to us for inclusion on the menu's website. It was not only delightful to look at but also delicious and the right amount for two to share. While the dessert menu is not large, it is fabulous. We ordered the banana-caramel dessert and the orange blossom chocolate ganache. They are rich and large enough to be shared, but we managed to finish both. FANTASTIC! Next time we'll be sure to save our appetite in order to enjoy an entree here. Thank you Peter and Eddie.
