“Raptorous View”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

Mt. Tom sits high above the Connecticut valley with a grand view of the river and surrounds. However, that is not the best part. Every year there is a hawk migration that passes over Mt. Tom from September through early November. The best place to witness these impressive creatures is from one of the two towers, especially the one on Goat's Peak that is maintained specifically for that purpose. Take a pair of binoculars and wear warm clothing, as it can be nippy when windy. Also, you be be sufficiently ensorcelled that you will not want to leave for nourishment, so you may want to bring a beverage and a sandwich. Don't worry if you don't know a great deal about hawks. You will be in the company of those who do and who will be happy to share their enthusiasm and information with you. Indeed, if you go on weekends it may be a bit too crowded. Oh yeah, and it also has lots of good hiking trails for those who wish to tramp the woods.

“My dogs love it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

With many trails to pick from you can spend a good part of your day hiking & walking. They are not very difficult hikes but are fun for the whole family & pets!

“Beautiful views,”

Love going here in the fall, looking at the foliage down in the valley. Going hiking on the trails with my kids, trying to keep them from chasing the chipmunks.

“hiking”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2012

This is a great place to hike with the family or with a pooch. The trails offer many different sights, and the connection to the old Mt Tom Ski area is very good brings back memories for those of us who skied there. the reservation has a large lake for fishing and numerous campgrounds. the fee is good so the riff raff is kept out.
