We stopped in at the Hot Stove on our first night in Harwich. We were tired from flying and driving all day, and walked into the restaurant knowing nothing about it at all. What a great experience! The place was packed but we got seats at the bar almost immediately. We expected simple bar food, and while the menu is not fancy, the food itself was outstanding. (And--in my opinion--very inexpensive, considering the quality. Basically you're paying regular bar food prices but getting a great deal.) I had fish and chips and my wife enjoyed the fried chicken, and everything was delicious. The bartender and waitress that served us were both very friendly and attentive.
Normally when we travel we don't go to the same restaurant more than once, so that we can sample as many places as possible. However we had such a good experience we went back just a few days later. It was Saturday night and the Hot Stove was even busier than before. We were seated more quickly than expected and again enjoyed a wonderful meal. This time we shared a stuff quahog and we both had steak tips. Fantastic!!
