We stayed at Wequassett for our 10 yr anniversary - just one night. Our experience at Wequassett was wonderful from first speaking with the reservationist. She compromised the two night minimum rule for us and gave us a huge break on a wonderful room. We stayed in a deluxe cottage room - one of the newest additions to the resort. The room was extremely clean - spotless. The room was extravagant...large flat screen TV, fireplace, jacuzzi tub, huge shower, surround sound radio/mp3 player. Most of the room's electronics could be controled via the TV. Very cool. The room had a deck (we were on the second floor). On the deck was a table and chairs and 2 full lounge chairs with a view of the bay - amazing. We greatly enjoyed our morning coffee on the deck. The bed was King sized and very comfortable - not too firm. One caution - check the alarm clock. We did not set it but it went off in the morning at 7am. I have to mention the minibar - it was well appointed and completely affordable - everything at cost. Snickers for 75 cents, bottled water 75 cents, beer 1.50 a bottle, chocolate covered raisins 3 dollars.
The staff was very friendly and greeted us like old friends. The service was excellent - the attitude was what can we do for you? Examples of the great service included: having our greeter take additional time to explain the room technology to us, my husband ordering a draft beer at LiBAYtion and, since they did not have it at the outside bar the bartender went inside to get it for him, extending check out time by 1 hour. Everyone was extremely friendly and treated you as though you were the only guest.
The resort facilities were great. The outside bar area was fun and not too crowded. The pool was clean and refreshing. We loved sitting by the pool and being able to see the ocean from our chairs. The piped in light music was very relaxing. There was a beautiful fire pit to sit by at night. We loved that the resort offered a complimentary boat cruise to the outer beach.
While not deminishing our stay in any meaningful way, there was some room for improvement. First, we missed having a place to grab a light breakfast. We did not want to spend the time to sit down and have breakfast but just wanted to grab something light and head to the pool. The only options were room service and 28 Atlantic. We ended up getting 4 medium muffins (which were yummy) and 1 bagel (which was not) from room service - at a charge of $28. A casual breakfast option would be a great addition to the resort. Second, if you greatly enjoy the beach and are looking to go for a beach vacation this may not be the resort for you. The beach is small and is more like a sand bar than a beach. Third, while not an issue for us the hot tub area is very small and while the pool was not crowded during our stay, it is easy to imagine that the pool area would be very busy during high season as it is not very large.
This was an amazing resort and we could not have been more happy with our stay. We loved it and cannot wait for our next visit. We highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a romantic getaway.
