“Across from Jiminy Peak”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

Only 2.5 hours from NYC and a few yards away from Jiminy Peak -- you can see the slopes. I was here for a college friends weekend and stayed in two connecting and spacious condos. We rented movies from the front desk and had in room massages. The gas fireplaces are a nice touch. We didn't use the pool or hot tub, but will the next time we visit. Couldn't believe I'd never been here before. Great for friends and families.

In looking for a Christmas week vacation, we found Vacation Village to have all of the amenities and location that we wanted. Hancock is situated perfectly for day trips to all of the southern Berkshire towns. Jiminy Peak is close to the resort so it was perfect during the two snow storms we saw when we were there. As far as the rooms and the hotel service went, for the most part everything was positive. The bed was comfy, the room spacious, nice balcony, big bathroom, full sized fridge, great kitchen but there was NO HOT WATER for the full 8 days we were there. We complained TWICE and nothing was done. Also, our rooms keys failed twice. They weren't anywhere near keys, phones, credit cards, etc. and when my boyfriend went to get them fixed, he was met with an attitude from the woman at the Welcome Center. When we checked in, there was a different woman who was extremely unenthusiastic. We had seen that was the case on several of the reviews bit hoped it wasn't so. We had free Wi-Fi but they were implementing some activities charge on the Friday before we left which didn't seem to make much sense to me, especially with all of the business they had. They let us keep it for free but only after we called. It should have been noted upon arrival so our service was uninterrupted. We would go there again but only if there was hot water.

Room Tip: Make sure you know if your room has a full or partial kitchen. They supply all dishes and pots and p...

We went to Hancock between Christmas and New Years Day to ski and snow board. Vacation Village is a time share. The rooms were as promised and the staff friendly. The kids enjoyed the pool, hot tub and skiing across the street at Jiminy Peak. You do need a car to get there, but it is a quick trip. When were were there they had free DVDs to use and the in room WiFi was also free. It was mentioned that in the future there may be a charge for the in room WiFi, but not for our time.

We wanted a weekend away from the chaos surrounding the holidays and that is just what we got during our stay in the Berkshires. Vacation Village is affiliated with our timeshare so that is how we decided upon the lodging. The rooms were clean and well stocked with everything that you would need for a weekend. There was a jacuzzi tub and separate shower in the room. We also had a fireplace and a small balcony. The bed was comfortable and there was a flatscreen television in the livingroom area and in the bedroom. There is no dining on the property. There are activities to participate in. The clubhouse has a gameroom and a pool. They have a "movie theater" too. There is not much in the surrounding area. Skiing or snowshoeing is obviously a big attraction. There is shopping not too far from here in Lee, MA. Mainly a large outlet center and some antique shops along the drive there. If your looking for some upscale eating, nearby Pittsfield has some nicer restaurants.

I came here with my husband and the in-laws including his parents, his younger brother and his girlfriend. We rented an AB suite for a week which includes one large one-bedroom suite with a full kitchen, living and dining room and patio; and one smaller one-bedroom with a kitchenette and smaller dining and living room. Both suites have a pullout couch. The suites were great, and it was nice that we had two suites that were sort of attached, giving us the ability to hang out together or have our own space. As an avid cook, I was pretty impressed with the kitchen and all the stuff they had in it (casseroles, variety of pots and pans, plates, etc.) You WILL have to bring all food stuff, including cooking oil, salt and pepper, etc. There's a Price Chopper in Pittsfield, about 30 minutes away.

The amenities are pretty good, table tennis, indoor pool, outdoor pool and hot tub. There's also beach volleyball, basketball and a playground for kids, as well as a bit of hiking. They are good with pets, but you'll be paying a $250 pet charge per suite. Decent amount of parking.

The beds were a bit too soft for my taste, leading to some not very restful evenings, but other than that, it was a comfortable place to stay.

Why terrible? I purchased a 2 night stay via a promotion and the stay included breakfast and airmiles. They did not have a breakfast and staff was clueless about any airmiles.

This is a World Hotels site which is condos and time shares and available units are put up for rental. Quite common. But the TOTAL lack of response from management at the resort and at the corporate level is inexcusable The reservation was for 8/12 so I have given them ample time and repeated inquiries. This was also a Travelzoo purchase and they also have chosen not to respond.

So if you want a nice place to satay I can't complain but if you want management to respond go somewhere else. Too bad ....it is usually the generalk staff that needs an occasional tune up and not management.

Thank you for writing but we believe you may be confused about the promotion you purchased. Vacation Village in the Berkshires has never offered breakfast and air miles with a room reservation. Upon investigation we discovered that back in August Worldhotels was promoting a “ Global Campaign Rate Plan” for some of their hotels which included miles and breakfast. Is it possible that you saw that promotion and then saw us on Travelzoo and booked that instead? We recommend that you locate your confirmation number and contact Worldhotels directly for clarification on the promotion you purchased. We’re thankful that you enjoyed our resort and we hope that we may have a chance to welcome you back to the Berkshires in the future.
