My family has had season passes here for past few years and we ski here most weekends and many weekdays as well. It's been a great place for us to improve and teach our son to ski. The lifts are def. slow which can really be a drag on busy weekends w long lines but midweek, when it's empty the lifts are a welcome break!
Our only ongoing gripe is about the general culture at Butternut. It has nothing to do w the staff or facilities ( both of which are old school lovely) but rather with the alarming frequency parents ( usually tourists and not great skiers) send their snow-plowing children down the blacks and more difficult blues. On a busy weekend this can be not only a bummer for advanced skiers looking for a challenge/ fast run but a real danger for all. It seems particular to butternut and again, is our least favorite part. We can't understand why ski patrol allows this.
Other than the underprepared groms on the steeps, we love Bnut and are pleased to call it our home mountain!
