“Found by accident”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

On a recent trip to Great Barrington we were on the search for a particular restaurant but stumbled onto The Well. A 2 hr drive we were thirsty and thought we'd get a drink. We had two drafts and left but a short time later we were back for more and ordered some food which was really good and the staff and patrons were so nice and fun. We'd go back again. Thanks Biff.

“Don't miss it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2012

Definitely a bar. Known for their burgers, but I haven't had a bad thing there yet. The Garlic Chips and Cheese are my favorite, followed closely by the mac and cheese. The burgers are great too.
Don't be put off, try it.

“A bar with pretty good food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

The Well does offer some local & organic choices but most of the menu is pub food. I had the fried chicken which was excellent - perfectly cooked and a not greasy coating, served with asparagus & mashed potatoes. My husband had the grass fed beef sliders and liked them. Most of the clientele was under 30 and the place has a distinct bar feel but if you are looking for that and some decent food at a reasonable price, this is a good place.

“Pub Food?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

This was a pub feel, but the food was excellent. We had the Philly Steak Sandwich, and the Fried Chicken. Wow...both were fantastic and the proportions were great. Chicken was cooked perfectly. Yummy.

“A pleasant surprise!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2012

A friend suggested it for her 60th b'day for drinks and appetizers.
I have walked by it for years and assumed it was all frozen mozzarella sticks and wings and beer.
I was WRONG! She had a lovely, big ceasar salad and mac and cheese, I had a version of poutine with fries, aioli and cheese ( i don't usually eat like this!). Everything was very fresh, delicious, well prepared, generous portions at good prices. i had a "Wellini" which came with the extra prosecco in the small split bottle for $8. A bargain, imho. I saw other entrees and apps leave the kitchen with similarly generous proportions and artful, imaginative presentation that looked fresh and delicious ( like the asparagus and prosciutto).
Expert staff who was young hip but very professional. Loved the atmosphere, people of all ages, ethnicities (didn't like the loud football game watchers though). This is NOT a sports bar.
This place fills the gap between bar and restaurant that we have few of in GB.
