“The best fish chowder, ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2014

If the wait is too long, order takeout and eat it in your car or overlooking the marina across the street. All the food is good here, but that chowder is just outstanding. BYOB, too. A great bargain.

“one of the smallest places in Gloucester but, one of the best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2014

there is no easy access if physically challenged or disabled. the place needs chairs and tables outside for the summer season and don't plan on a quick meal it's just too busy.

“Yummmmm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

A true Gloucester favorite, no one goes away unsatisfied. Plus you'll have at least an entire meal left over to take home.

“The Real Deal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2014

We live about 2 hours away from this place and have been going here for years. Theres no better way to top a day of fishing off than with a stop at this no frills restaurant. The food and service has aways been great. The clam or the fish chowder are a must. Every other dish from steaks, seafood or pasta has been nothing less than excellent.

“A hole in the Wall, with great food and enormous portions”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2013

Are you really hungry?? When was the last time you had a piece of haddock in a restaurant which weighed nearly a pound, and you didn't have to empty out the ATM to pay for it??? Well that's what you'll find here, along with long lines to get in, especially if you come at the wrong time, which is most of the time. The food here is FRESH, FRESH and FRESH. and TASTY! Fresh doesn't cut it, unless there is great taste to go along with it. This tiny little restaurant, which looks like your grandfather's sit down diner, serves big portions for nearly no money, especially at lunch. Their "cup" of fish chowder is anyone elses large bowl with the fish teeming out of the bowl. The "bowl" is about a quart of chowder heaping with fish, for about 6 bucks. That's lunch all by itself. I sometimes buy a bowl for take out, to split with my other half and we BOTH eat a meal from it. Other wonders include great tasting scallops all over your plate which would easily be two dinners in any other restaurant, a great piece of swordfish that actually covers the majority of the plate, and for you landlubbers out there a passable steak, and some chicken dishes, especially the monster chicken and broccoli pasta plate. Service is generally very good and the servers are attentive to your needs and will refill your liquids without begging! And its BYOB! Bring a nice bottle of wine. For those of you who are aware, the liquor store next door is gone, so you have the WHOLE parking lot to yourselves. Come enjoy a great meal and don't bring a lot of money. You won't need it.

This is really a FUN place to eat.
