Duckworth's Continues to deliver excellent food, wine and service. On top of this the owners, Ken and
Nicole, are generous supporters of the Cape Ann community.

“Best Gourmet Food on the North Shore”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2012

I will never understand why there are no restaurants with really good food on the North Shore, yet, Duckworth is the golden exception. Outstanding food, excellent wine selection, and the nicest staff I can imagine. Waiters and waitresses that stay for years and years which makes it so nice and familiar. I wish their dining room allowed for a few more cozy areas but that's really the only downside. Call ahead and reserve because it is always well frequented.
Oh, and what I love best: you can order half portions of almost every menu item!!!

“Always a pleasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2012

Duckworth's is my celebration restaurant. It's a little pricy for me for an every-day kind of meal, so we save it for special occasions and have always been impressed with the quality of the food and service. Ken uses local ingredients and combines them into an every-changing variety of delicious choices. My favorite (before I gave up meat) was the seared duck breast with sautéed apples, fennel; sweet and sour cider sauce. Heavenly. They have an inventive selection of vegetarian choices, excellent salads and an impressive wine list, especially considering their size (it's a small place, so make reservations in advance although one or two people can usually squeeze in at the bar). Most of the selections are available as either entree- or appetizer-sized portions, enabling you to be adventurous in trying a variety of different flavors and especially nice if you can't make up your mind. As they are right on Gloucester Harbor, there are always good seafood selections, and everything we've ever tried there has been wonderful. Be sure to leave room for dessert - there is always a tempting list, but be sure that at least one member in the party orders Nicole Duckworth's signature dessert, banana layer cake (I know, the thought of banana might seem a little heavy for end of a rich meal, but this is light and wonderful and not-to-be-missed!).

“Probably Gloucester's best restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2012

Small and intimate restaurant in the Main Street in East Gloucester. Not on the water but has excellent food and half portions. Quiet and understated. Not a youthful crowd. Reservations a must. Open all year.

“Wonderful food, nice setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2012

We went to this restaurant based on TripAdvisor ratings and we were not disappointed. It is a charming little place with friendly servers and fantastic food. It was the best place we went during our trip to Boston area. We all had fish - halibut and monkfish - served with vegetables of your choice. Even my daughter, who doesn't usually like fish, loved the halibut. The soup and salad were also very delicious with fresh flavors and unique combinations. The half serving size was plenty for each of us. We finished the meal with their bread pudding and a banana bread cake that were very enjoyable. It's a small place so be sure to get reservations. HIghly recommend.
