“Beautiful location and beautiful inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2011

If you are looking for a quiet, romantic inn to celebrate an anniversary or birthday then this place is for you. Our room was in the Stacy House, one of the three parts of the inn. These rooms are suites with an in room kitchenette, king size bed, jacuzzi tub, DVD player and HD TVs. While the bathroom was small, it had all you needed to soak the day's exploring away with bath salts, loofah, mineral bath and other soaps. We used the Sweet Romance package and received along with the room a dozen long stem red roses, a box of chocolate covered cherries (not cordials) from Nichol's Candy House and champagne.
The staff was friendly and informative. They went out there way to accommodate us when we decided to stay in the room for the day and relax. They called and asked if we needed any housekeeping done and offered to send up fresh towels and soaps. Other places would have the housekeepers bang on the door until we answered. They had a great selection of DVDs to choose from in the lobby.
All and all it was a great experience and are planning to go back in the future!

My wife and I stayed at the Bass Rocks in for 4 nights and enjoyed the time spent at the Inn. The rooms are very clean and came with a coffee maker. Every room has a terrace and views of the ocean, the morning sunrise was breath taking. The breakfast was bagels, home made muffins, hard boiled eggs and scones, cereal both hot and cold. Everything we ate was delicious and its all topped off with a variety of juices and Starbucks coffee.

This was our third year in a row at the Bass Rocks Inn. It's become an family tradition for us and for other families as well. Our children have made friends they meet up with year after year. The rooms are a nice size and very clean, the pool area is always in top shape and the location and views overlooking the ocean is spectacular. Cookies and lemonade every afternoon and a morning breakfast with homemade muffins and scones. will be booking next year's stay very soon!

We love the Bass Rocks Ocean Inn. This is our favorite place in the Gloucester area. You have ocean front where you sleep with the door open and hear the water hitting the rocks. You smell the salty air. The rooms are wonderful, and the breakfast terrific. It does have all you can ask for. Not far from Rockport, and Salem if you want to do a short drive to visit these areas. Rockport about 6 miles and Salem about 25 minutes but to us worth the drive.

there are a lot of pros and cons to Bass Rocks
It is impeccably manintained....very pretty
the views are gorgeous of the atlantic crashing on big rocks that are reminiscent of the maine coast. However, the coast is across the street. The pics on their website make the rooms look much bigger than they are.....the bathroom in ours was truly miniscule....think old time motel. There arent' a lot of great accommodations in Gloucester to choose from, so this is probably one of the best, but just know what you're getting;;;it's not really an inn, but is a very nice motel. Probably a bit overpriced for what you get

We stayed at the hotel with our two small kids and had a very positive experience. The staff was so helpful with everything from which beaches to visit to weather updates, especially Ellen at the front desk and Donya with housekeeping. The hotel is updated nicely, very clean and well-cared for. Our room was small, but comfortable. It is conveniently located, with one of the best beaches within a mile or so. I loved going to sleep to the sound and smell of the surf right outside my door.

My only disappointment was that pesticides had been applied to the vast lawn outside our room. The green space was a selling point for us because we thought the kids could run around in the evenings. After our first day at the beach we ordered take-out and planned a picnic and bocce out on the lawn only to discover the sign warning us to keep off the grass. I understand the grass needs maintenance, but perhaps not on the last weekend of August?

My wife and I decided to visit Gloucester and saw great reviews for Bass Rocks. The reviews did not do it justice. We stayed in one of the suites in the "wedding Cake House" with views of the ocean. Everything about the room and location were fantastic. The room looked to be newly remodeled and was very quiet. It is only about 10 minutes from downtown and convenient to everything you could need. They serve a nice continental breakfast and have coffee, tea and lemonade all day. This room was not inexpensive but it was worth every penny. We are already planning to go back.
