“Back in Time”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

I went to the Patio and it was like going back in time .The restaurant had not changed since the early 70's with dark walls and red velvet like accents. I was surprised that the tables were setup for couples with the settings on 1 side so the customer's could both watch the television set (seems a little odd) the food was ok but nothing special it looks like the menu was also still the same as it was in the 70's just higher prices drinks are a little pricey for the area but overall the meal was well cooked and you could watch the food being cooked in the open kitchen which was next to the tv so you were facing that way anyway

“Good food and friendly people”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

Food and drinks were good. Fish was fresh. Bartender was very personable. People were very friendly. No cars were parked in front. This is deceiving as the full parking lot is behind the building.

“"...Where Everybody Knows Your Name..."”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

This hometown spot is a favorite with the locals because the owners and waitstaff take care to know you and your likes. We don't even get seated and my husband's favorite adult beverage is frostily ready to greet him.

We like to choose from the supper specials that are good for those on a budget, but others arrive primed for the prime rib on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Last night I had Red Flannel Hash, a comfort food of shredded corned beef, potatoes, carrots and cabbage.

Owner Irene is on site and in charge daily from 5 PM to closing. She and her chef-in-charge daughter call bartender Chris family too.

We appreciate the "mystery vegetable" because it's always fresh and never the same from week to week. The ones I remember include Braised Celery, Parmesan Cauliflour, Creamed Spinach with Mushrooms and Buttered Fresh Carrots.

This is a fun, friendly, family restaurant that gives good value for your money.

“Some of the best seafood in the area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2012

We have been going to the Patio restaurant for many years on our annual trip to Rockport. We have never eaten anything but seafood. This is our go to restaurant when on vacation. Sometimes as many as 5 out of 7 dinners are eaten here. The owner is very careful with the quality of seafood and we would recommend eating the fried clams if they are on the menu. The baked stuffed haddock is always an option if clams are not on the special board. The special board offers a variety of well priced options. The decor is a little dated but the service and food are outstanding.

“Nice people; decent food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2012

The Patio is a pleasant place run by owners who have been there a long time. The food is solid, if not stunning, the wine maybe a bit less than solid. But the staff are very friendly and the whole place has a wonderful family tone. Kind enough to make you feel welcome; smart enough to leave you alone, too. The drive down to Magnolia from Gloucester is a wonderful one, so if that's how you'd be going, go by daylight? The start serving at 5:00 pm.
