Not only is this statue the face of Gloucester, but the names that surround it are quite a legacy. It helps to paint a picture of how powerful the ocean truly is. It assists tourists in understanding the strife that Gloucester has taken in standing as America's oldest seaport.
The Boulevard itself (the street where the Fishermans statue stands) is gorgeous. It runs along the outer harbour. There is a deep, safe sidewalk. Clean, fresh grass lines the middle. You can stroll towards the draw bridge to see it in action and watch boats pass down the canal.
As you face the ocean, the town and harbour is to your left, the breakwater is directly in front of you, and Stage Fort Park is to your right.
