“Iconic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013

This iconic monument watches over the Gloucester Harbor and open sea. It symbolizes the people and the industry that built Gloucester. It is a memorial to those who lost their lives trying to make a living to care for their families. Set on Stacy Boulevard it is in a beautiful location for a stroll, photo ops and near downtown.

As someone who grew up in a similar fishing community, the names inscribed were a grim reminder of how dangerous the fishing profession is. It's an icon of Gloucester so you really should make an effort to just see it - plus the walk along the water is worth it!

“Classic gloucester icon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2013

Very nice spot to stop and take in the view, or take a stroll along the boulevard with the locals. See the boats going in and out of the harbor, especially the locally constructed schooners Lannon and Ardelle on their regular trips. It doesn't get better than this!

The iconic sculpture of a fisherman looking out to sea. the location is great, and my family and I walked along the path and looked out to the sea.

“Beautiful Statue and Inscription”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

Enjoy the heritage of Gloucester by visiting this monument to the fishermen that lost their lives at sea.. It's located along the rocky shore with a mile-long (approximately) walkway right around the harbor. It's a quick trip but a pleasure to go
