“Delightful sunset cruise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

We heard about the Ardelle while on a riverboat trip down the Essex River and thought sailing in Gloucester Harbor on a gorgeous summer night would be fabulous. And it was! The sail itself was calm, the boat comfortable, the staff friendly and chatty, and the evening weather perfection. The only problem was finding the boat, which was hidden from the street by a building and a tent. We will definitely do this trip again and highly recommend.

“Enjoy beautiful Gloucester Harbor from the water”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013

Having a small sailboat of our own, my husband and I were anxious to get out on the water on the Ardelle recently built from recycled parts by the captain with free labor from his family and friends. He and his son guided us around the harbor for 2 hours telling stories and entertaining the few youngsters on board by pulling up lobster traps and feeding the seagulls. It leaves from Maritime Gloucester and the fare includes the museum with touch tanks for the kids. Nice restaurant nearby for lunch before the sail(only drinks and chips available on board). A beautiful, breezy summer day helped make this a delightful time.

“Ahoy you will enjoy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

Sail away on a schooner that was recently built. The owner and captain built this ship from recycled materials along with very dedicated friends. You will learn about all of this while enjoying your voyage. Snacks can be purchased on board.

“Beautiful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2013

This is a very enjoyable way to see the beautiful Gloucester Harbor from the water. The captain is especially proud of his boat building skills. I loved the photo album showing each stage of the boat's construction. His pride and his conversation with each passenger made us all feel special.

During the trip, he pulled a lobster trap, talked about the trapping process and played with the seagull for some nice photos.

I would go on this 2 hour sail again at a different time of year to see the harbor spring or fall or even sunset. If friends skied me to join them again this year, I would go again. Sailing is a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

“Great place to go on extremely hot day”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013

The Schooner Ardelle was built in Essex MA out of reclaimed materials. We went on a day that was almost 100 degrees. Our tickets also included a tour of the Maritime museum which is small with touch tanks for children to touch some of the shellfish up close. The "skipper" and his son were the crew. Children were invited to help hoist the sails. A 2 hour lovely sail in Gloucester- peaceful, beautiful and the only place with a breeze. After the sails were up beer, wine and chps were for sale. A lobster pot was hauled into the boat as an added surprise for the 4 children on board. They got to see and touch lobsters and crabs. Would highly reccommend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
