“Grood Eats and a Great Time”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2014

We were lucky enough to arrive in Gloucester just as the day's catch was being weighed in for the Bluefin Blowout, the annual Tuna fishing completion at the Home of the Wicked Tuna. After seeing the giant 588 pounder come in, we ate at the neighboring restaurant, Mile Marker One. We had as much fun here as we did at the dock. The dining room for the Mile Marker looks over the bay and has outdoor and indoor seating. We were glad to seat indoors, where we were given the first table in a corner and could easily hear each other. The food was very good but informal. Most of us ordered the Bacon Lobster Roll, which came with fries or coleslaw. How can you go wrong with that combination. Our waitress was very friendly and seemed to really enjoy meeting us. She even volunteered to take our picture! On the way out, we were offered a ride to our car by the staff, a service that may be needed at times because this place is sooo busy! He was so friendly, we felt that we would always be welcomed here. Next time in Gloucester, this will definitely be the dinner stop!

“Better managerial control would help”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2014

We had lunch here on a whim one day, and it was very good. Seated outside with a water view, we enjoyed good service and a very good meal. When we returned for dinner several weeks later, it was a completely different scene. There was a band in another part of the venue and the restaurant appeared to be serving a number of boaters who were likely moored for the evening. The band was loud and annoying. Worse were the customers seated behind us, having loud conversations about sexual topics and swearing profusely. That this occurred was bad enough for us, but there were families with young children at surrounding tables. True, the restaurant is not responsible entirely for its customers' behavior, but given the mixed-age clientele, a manager should have intervened and asked this group to tone it down.

“Good Glouicester Sea Food”

Lobster Cassarole, Fries, and Cole Slaw: what a nice meal....very fair portion, and size...great scenes from the open air deck, and the drinks were quite good.

“Unexpected Lunch”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014

Last week on a sultry summer morning, my wife and I decided to have a late breakfast at the Mile Marker as we have enjoyed breakfasts there before. We arrived at 11:39 and were told by the Maitre'd that "Sorry. We stopped serving breakfast at 11:30 and now we're serving lunch." Well, we were a little amazed at that as we were the only patrons there at the time but we decided then to have lunch out on the deck. We were the only ones there as well but the water scenery was nice. My wife ordered a lobster roll and I ordered a Reuben. The waitress brought our orders and before we could unwrap our utensils - she was back to ask "How is everything?" Well, it wasn't long before we knew...My wife described her lobster roll as "...not that bad." And my Reuben was one of the more disgusting things that ever found its way onto a serving plate accompanied by a heap of soggy and oily French Fries. I was able to handle only one bite from the Reuben as it was some concoction of warm sludge. After a while the waitress came by and saw my basically full plate and seriously asked: "Would you like me to wrap this up for you." I actually burst out laughing as I said "No, I don't think so." She said nothing else and gave us the bill. That lunch should teach us not to be late for breakfast...

“Bridge Deck”

Had a catered clambake at the Bridge Deck of Cape Ann Marina and Resort. Amazing improvements done by Mile Marker 1 in the past 2 years. Food and service was excellent - thanks Elyse.
