O.K., We ARE Foodies, we go out often, once or twice a week at least. We are pretty good cooks outselves, so we really know about food, service, and in general, the whole eating-out scene. We have done it, we have been there. Most of the time, we have to admit to ourselves, we really cook better at home.....We hate trying new places, but sometimes we cannot help ourselves when the reviews seem really GREAT!!!!
We tried the new Ohana, long story short, do not bother....We had heard that the atmosphere was not good, but, that was not the way I saw it, it was just O.K. The person who seated us, was not dressed very well, the waitress was a little dishevelled, nice, but that is how far she went, she had lots of trouble opening a bottle of wine, she had to take it back to the bar to do it, then we were left with a bottle of white on the table, (NO Chiller to keep it cold) we had to ask her for one.
Our water glasses were empty, as it was a hot day, we had to ask the bus-boy to bring water. Our food was only mediocre at best. I had ordered the Peruvian Serviche, as I read in one review that it was really good......REALLY, the miniscule portion for $14. four different ways, was rediculous, maybe a teaspoon of each type. COME ON....Then I ordered the Tuna Furikaki, which I order again and again at Finns in Salem (delicious) and a meal in itself by the way!!!! It had maybe six small pieces of tuna on top of tiny pieces of mushrooms, what was that....Just awful, I couldn 't believe my eyes., Good thing we ordered a bottle of wine (I would have been starving). The tuna lacked taste and should have been a much bigger portion for $18. My husband had ordered the calamari app., it was cold almost, oily, and heavy batter. It was the worst ever...His Entree was the sea scallops, (3) on a strange bed of whatever, I think this dish was a special and was maybe $26-28. It was a small to med. portion. Deffinitely not what we had expected. My husband has a weakness for dessert, so he could not help himself to order the chocolate soufle'.O.K. it wasn't terrible, but it was not a soufle' at all, but a small chocolate cake with an average (brighams vanilla ice cream), nothing special.
You know, we did enjoy the bottle of white wine, it was from Italy, and it was only $30.,
The best bet at this average/below average Hawaiian Gloucester Restaurant...
We left very disappointed, and at least $145. lighter in our pockets...
Thank you for letting us share this review...We will never go there again, and will not ever recommend it to anyone......Good luck Ohana, you really need it.
