We tried to go recently to Wingaersheek beach. It was full by 9:30 a.m. Someone was smart and posted a person at the head of the very narrow twisty road to the beach to head people off. He directed us to this beach. It was great! Yes, there was seaweed in the water, but that makes great sand castle decorations. Yes there were people there, but I could see from one end of the beach to the other which made it easy for me to see my son wherever he happened to be (and therefore relax). There were crabs in tide pools on rocks so everyone was entertained. All in all, not bad at all! (p.s. unlike what another poster wrote, mosquitoes do not carry Lyme disease--deer ticks do) There is a fee to park but that's true most places.
