My husband and I found this gem quite by accident in 2010 on our first trip to Gloucester. Having visited there for a few days each September, we never miss a chance to eat at this restaurant, most times more than once per trip. This year, we visited on September 16, 2013. Quite to our surprise when we walked in, we were greeted by the owner who said, "Welcome back, it is so nice to see you again. It has been awhile since you have been in." Really???? From a restaurant owner who probably hosts hundreds (thousands?) of guests each year, to remember us was quite special. We were there to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary, as was another couple at the bar. As always, we felt right at home and easily struck up conversation with Antoine the bartender who is absolutely wonderful and shared stories of his son (we both have sons in the military) and stories of Gloucester which made for yet ANOTHER unforgettable visit. Even the local clientele joined in the conversation and made for a perfect evening. We shared delicious stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer, and each had the "to-die-for" fried clams that were the BEST we have EVER eaten, sweet, tender and cooked to perfection. There is not a thing about this place not to love except for the fact that we have to travel 5.5 hours to get there! Believe me, it is worth the trip! Antoine, thanks for such a memorable evening and for being such a great host! If you are traveling anywhere near Gloucester, put this into your "musts"...you will not be disappointed!
