February 27 to March 2nd, 2006 – I had the opportunity to spend three nights at the Residence Inn in Franklin Massachusetts. Every aspect of my stay was positive.
When I checked in, I received the non-smoking studio suite that I had reserved. The rate was $119.00 per night. Check-in took about 90 seconds and the front desk associate was very friendly.
My room was #138, on the first floor at the East end of the hotel. While it was probably the farthest room from the lobby, there was an entrance from the parking lot only a few feet from my “front door.”
Entering the room it smelled clean and fresh. The studio suite is basically a very large room with a full kitchen, a work area with a desk, the sitting area, the bedroom area, and a large bathroom. I don’t know the square footage, but there is plenty of room for a couple, even for a long term stay.
The hotel offers complimentary HS wireless internet access. It was easy to connect and worked perfectly my entire stay. The desk is functional and the office-style chair is comfortable. Lighting was sufficient.
The bedroom area had a very comfortable queen size bed with the new-style duvet cover that is changed with each guest. There were five pillows including feather and foam. The TV is located on the dresser and can be swiveled for viewing from anywhere in the suite. Besides a bunch of cable channels there were pay per view movies and games.
The kitchen was fully equipped with a refrigerator that had an ice maker, stove, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, dishes, silverware, pots, etc. It was spotless. For eating there was a bar with two high bar chairs. There is a micro market in the lobby area that had snack food and drinks as well as some microwavable meals.
The bathroom area was spotless (as was the rest of the suite). The vanity sink was large and well lit. The bathroom itself had a combination tub and shower with plenty of towels. There was a hair dryer above the sink as well as an iron and ironing board in the closet.
I enjoyed a complete breakfast each morning of my stay. On the “hot” part of the buffet, there were always scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon, potatoes and oatmeal. There is also a station to make your own waffles. For cold foods there were cereals, fruit, juices, yoghurt, bagels, muffins, and bread for toast. The breakfast room is large, bright, and friendly. I did not have the opportunity to experience the complimentary evening hors d’oeuvres.
The hotel’s pool is indoors and there is a whirlpool spa next to it. The exercise room has windows to the pool area. It is smalll with three machines and TV to help pass the time. There were plenty of fresh towels for both the pool and exercise room.
Every hotel associate that I came in contact with was very friendly and helpful. We asked for directions and restaurant recommendations each day and were happy with the friendly and helpful answers we received. I am looking forward to staying at the Residence Inn Franklin again when I am in the area the next time.
