“not impressed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

this is an older hotel, and very dated. The bed was uncomfortable, and the pillows were thick and lumpy. It did not have a clean feeling to me at all. I thought at $126/night it was over priced. There were hairs in the bathtub and on the back of the commode. There were locks on the doors, which did not make me feel very good about staying there.

For the price of the room and the location I was pleased with my stay. I only used the hotel to sleep and shower so can't comment on anything else. I called the day before for a reservation and was able to get what I wanted. All the other hotels were book or way to expensive for my wallet. I was at the back of the hotel which was quiet but on two occasions I found the back door not locked so it did make me worried who could sneak into the building.

I obtained an $87.50 per night government rate for a double, non-smoking room. The other discounted rates at this hotel were substantially higher. I was pleased with the hotel but location is not great if you are visiting Boston.

PROS:
1. Free parking.
2. Very large and clean room – no bugs. Plenty of room to lay out your suitcases.
3. Free Wi-Fi with easy access – no password needed.
4. Hotel has elevators.
5. Free breakfast in large dining area.
6. Popular pub attached to hotel.

CONS:
1. The closest T station is Riverside (Green Line) – 15-20 min drive with no traffic. At rush hour, it is a 45 minute drive (assuming no accidents). You will then have about a one hour ride on the Green Line to Park Street. However, the advantage to parking at Riverside is that there is ample parking, only $6.00 per day, and since it is the start of the line, you will get a seat.
2. The sink is inside the bathroom – inconvenient for two or more people getting dressed in the morning.
3. No microwave or refrigerator.
4. No safe.
5. Room is a little tired. Needs to be updated.

If you are looking for an inexpensive hotel that is convenient to a T station, for visiting Boston, I would not recommend staying here. It is too long of a drive to the T station, and too long of a train ride. I would recommend looking for a hotel near the Alewife station. Alewife has ample parking, is at the start of the Red line, and is a faster train ride into the heart of the city.

We recently stayed at this hotel for one night before dropping guests off at Logan. Our room was in the newer part on the 6th floor. The room was a good size, clean and had a comfortable king bed. The only negative we had was that the control knob for the heat/air was broken and the halls are very dark. There is a pub connected to the hotel that was excellent!!!! Overall, this is a great place for the price. We would stay here again.

The location and amenities were fine. We were close enough to be in easy contact with my relatives (15 minute drive) and to visit Cambridge, where I had attended college, as well as Braintree, where I had grown up.

This was the third time we stayed here this year, and the next time we are in town, we'll probably stay here again. It is convient for our needs, and the on-site restaurant comes in very handy, even though there are plenty of other restaurants very near by.

It can be pricey staying in the Boston area. Framinghamis minutes away and a nice safe location. There are great restaurants in the area and the hotel is very nice. From the bar/grill attached; to the pool/sauna and exercise room it was wonderful. I will be going back and recommending it to others.
