“Pho near home”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2014 via mobile

Had a delightful bowl of vegetable pho. It was delicious, plentiful, and full of noodles and veggies. Enjoyed the leftovers the next day for lunch. We will definitely return

“Good basic Pho”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2014

Pretty good pho, IMO. May be a tad less depth to the beef broth, than Le's.

Good news for Metrowest is that I no longer need to trek to Worcester nor Allston. My dream come true.

“A Taste of Vietnam in Downtown Framingham”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2014

Pho Dakao, a new addition to the downtown Framingham dining scene, offers a nice variety of the vivid, flavorful dishes that make Vietnamese cuisine a favorite of many foodies.

With its warm pendant lighting, earth toned floors and walls, rustic white birch branch room dividers, and new age piano music playing softly in the background, the dining area at Pho Dakao has a tranquil feel. They have a full liquor license with a good range of reasonably-priced beers, wines, and specialty cocktails, including a lychee martini.

On a Sunday afternoon they were doing a bustling lunch trade that included both couples and families. We were immediately greeted by the hostess and seated in a comfortable booth in the L-shaped dining area.

The extensive menu ranged from appetizers like spring rolls to various pho soup combinations to Vietnamese salads, vermicelli noodle and rice-based dishes, and numerous vegetarian and seafood options as well as a few desserts. There's also some interesting house specialties like caramelized catfish, duck in ginger sauce, and salted squid, for more adventurous diners. Prices ranged from as low as $4.50 for some appetizers to $38 for a seafood hot pot for two people, with most dishes clustered in the $9-12 range.

The pho with rare steak offered a rich beef broth flavored with scallions, onions, and cilantro, and several slices of lean flank steak. A side dish of bean sprouts and fresh Asian basil to mix into the soup provided some bright flavors, crunch, and visual interest.

The vermicelli combo was a nice mix of thin rice noodles, bean sprouts, carrots, scallions, fresh mint and basil, shredded lettuce and cabbage, and crushed peanuts, topped with a spring roll, shrimp, and fried pork. There could have been more peanuts, and the presence of only a single shrimp was a bit disappointing, but overall the dish was well-made and flavorful, a balance of light flavors from the vegetables to chewy comfort from the noodles and meat, with the mint providing a bright herbal blast to contrast with the more savory ingredients.

Service throughout the meal was prompt and pleasant. For about $20 (without drinks and tip), two people can take a nice culinary voyage to Southeast Asia right in downtown Framingham. We'll be returning to explore more of Pho Dakao's intriguing and delightful menu soon.

“Amazing and authentic Pho!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2014

Framingham finally has Pho!! This restaurant just opened on March 1st and the wife and I have already been twice. We tried the Pho Ga (chicken) and the seafood noodle soup, both were fantastic! We also got the summer rolls that were served with a tasty peanut sauce. I really hope this establishment gets a name for itself and "makes it" because Vietnamese food is very hard to come by in the Metrowest area. Let me tell you that the quality is very good and I'm finally able to get good Pho without having to drive into Boston.
