“Great choice for Easter or Mother's Day Buffet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2009

We've hosted family groups at the Lafayette House for Easter and Mother's Day buffets several times in the past 10 years and have always enjoyed the meals. Buffets are a good option for larger family groups so we've included as many as 10 family members in the past,. They open at 10 am however it was very cold outside this year so they opened the Bar area to allow customers to stay warm until the restaraunt opened. There was also an Easter Bunny and an Easter Egg Hunt for children on the terrace.
The food options are plentiful and very tasty, although this year the bagels were stale.
Omelette stations are a favorite. Carving station offered baked ham and prime rib and both were excellent, but we were disappointed that lamb was not offered this year. Wonderful array of delicious deserts. The service was excellent, and the staff at the carving and omelette stations were very friendly and accomodating. Very short lines so little or no waiting. The building dates back to the 1700's so the atmosphere is rustic and charming. Several rooms of different size so romantic couples can sit in a quiet room without children.

“Past and Present”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2008

My wife and I had our first big date over 40 yrs. ago and it was dinner at the Lafayette House. The evening was just wonderful.

I had a 50th surprise birthday party there and have just recently started going to the restaurant on a regular basis. The service, food, and atmosphere have been very good.

My conclusion is that the "ot so good review" of CantonJD is a fellow looking for reasons to justify leaving no tip. I base this on my personal experience at the Lafayette House. Go-Eat-Enjoy!

“Bad customer service, dirty”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2007

The food is good but overpriced. The ambiance is OK if you're into dark and dirty. Don't go into the men's room without a HAZMAT suit - I think the last time the thing was cleaned was 1785. Worst of all, the service is terrible - the "proprieter" has apparently never been trained in customer service. Don't even think of coming near this restaurant during an event at Gillette Stadium (which is just north on Route 1). In addition to traffic hassles, the manager will scream at you for using his lot for the game as soon as you pull in, rather than just asking, "will you be dining with us"? The negatives of customer service and cleanliness far outweigh any positives.

“Nice Ambiance”

The food was excellent and I love the atmosphere. We had a wonderful waitress who was very attentive. I love their cheese. You can buy it to take home!
