“Honeymoon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

Our stay at Inn on the Sound was an excellent experience from start to finish. We arrived late due to the weather slowing down the Amtrak train from New York. Nevertheless, Howard was there to receive us with coffee and cake should we want them. Breakfast was from 8.30 - 11 although coffee or tea could be obtained earlier. I have never seen such elaborate displays with fruit outside of a 5* hotel, it seemed a pity to dive in. The cooked option was delicious and different every day. The room was very New England and very comfortable. The sheets were amazing and the bathroom accessories were high grade and replaced each day. Every morning the room was cleaned and the bed made.
Janet spent quite a while explaining where was good to go and how best to get there. There was also the facility to use a fridge and microwave should we wish to bring food/drink back. We met some lovely couples whilst we were there, breakfast was a very social ocassion. There are limited car parking spaces, but not a problem when we were there. It was our honeymoon and on the last night there was a bottle of champagne and sweets left in our room, a very sweet gesture. We would most definitely go back.

Room Tip: We chose the Chapaquoit beach room as it overlooked the beach.

It remains simply one of the best places we have stayed in, impeccable and tastefully decorated throughout. An exceptional standard with a warm and relaxed welcome from Jan and Howard. The gourmet breakfast is delicious with fresh fruit, granola, yogurts, cakes, biscuits and a hot entree which can be taken in the dining room or on the patio overlooking Vinyard Sound. Hot drinks and excellent homemade goodies are available throughout the day. Jan and Howard are very knowledgable about the area and help you to get the most out of your visit.
Every facility is available for guests including beach towels, deckchairs and an outdoor shower after a afternoon on the beach. Perhaps for me it is the standard of cleanliness throughout and the quality of the food that makes this place perfect for relaxing. It may be a little way out of the centre of Falmouth but do not let that put you off, its worth the walk. Its position therefore means it is quiet and peaceful which is another bonus. Simply outstanding.

Room Tip: Fiddlers cove gives you great vies over Vinyard Sound

My wife and I stayed at the Inn on the Sound for a week in late September 2012. If there is a term - 'Boutique B&B', then the Inn fits it perfectly.
Janet and Howard proved to be quite excellent hosts. They have a wealth of knowledge and recommendations regarding outings, restaurants and activities on the Cape and the nearby Islands.
The rooms at the Inn are immaculate - beautiful and airy and are furnished in an understated and tasteful New England Style. The breakfasts consist of beautiful and imaginative bespoke specials, as well as a simple and perfectly judged choice of breakfast fare, served, more often than not on the terrace overlooking Vineyard Sound.
I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending the Inn on the Sound. It is, quite simply superb.

Initially drawn to this inn by the website and reviews on Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed. I strongly recommend spending the extra money for an ocean view room. Our room, Fiddler's Cove, was spacious and cozy and the bed one of the most comfortable we've ever slept on. The room had a balcony on which we spent time watching the sun rise over Nantucket Sound and later sipping cocktails as the sun set. It was glorious. Our host/hostess Jan and Howard were more than helpful with dinner recommendations and sightseeing tips. Breakfast very good as well. The ferry to Martha's Vineyard was just down the street, close enough to walk and avoid paying the parking charge. We would definitely stay here again and without hesitation encourage others to do so as well.

Initially was attracted by the great website. Followed up with a review on Trip advisor. The location is great; close to ferry and many good restaurants. Jan and Howard provide excellent service. They are a wealth of knowledge regarding outings on the cape.
The rooms are very nice and the room staff does a super job. We will recommend the Inn to anyone. It is a can't miss. 5 nights were delightful.

Mel and Noelle .

Room Tip: Call and talk to Jan about your individual requirements. She will make you happy.

We have stayed at Inn of the sound in august for three nights and we have had a marvelous time there.
The innkeeper are very very kind, you feel at home from the first minute. They give a lot of information of Falmouth and Cape Cod in general (road instruction, practical info, maps, books, etc..)
The inn and the room are very clean and everything is made with attention to the smallest details. We have stayed in Great Harbor room and I think it is one of the best of the inn: wonderful view of Martha's Vineyard from the balcony of the room, very nice bathroom.
The breakfast is simply delicious

We will always remember this inn, these four fantastic days and the innkeepers

My husband and I stayed here for 4 idyllic days at the end of August right before the Labor Day weekend rush. There are really no words to describe how wonderful it was - from the absolutely spectacular breakfasts out on the deck to the immaculate rooms and common ares. We stayed in one of the smaller rooms that didn't have a balcony (next time!), but the ocean view was stunning. If we had ONE criticism, and its super tiny, it would be for curtains or room darkening shades since the sun pouring in through the venetian blinds made it hard to sleep past 6 am! We tend to rise early though so it wasn't a problem for us. Howard and Jan were amazing and helpful as they gave us the rundown of things to do, especially with regards to Martha's Vineyard which Jan knew all about. And the food. Did I mention the food? Absolutely the best in every way. The breakfasts were all homemade right down to the amazing pastries - and Jan is more than happy to share her recipes. It was a perfect end to a perfect week on Cape Cod. I didn't want to leave and even got a little teary eyed packing! We will be back.
