“Excellent Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2012

If you're visiting the Cape, the Inn on the Sound is a terrific B&B from which to base your stay. It's located on the water in Falmouth (albeit across the road from the ocean). The rooms are very well appointed and many have balconies on which to sip a glass of wine and enjoy the view. Breakfast is always great and Jan and Howard do a terrific job with the entire experience. My wife and I have stayed several times and have never been disappointed. Within easy walking distance is a public beach (Falmouth has the warmest water on the Cape). Across the street from the beach is the British Beer Company, an English-pub bar and restaurant. You can literally park your car at the Inn and walk to anything you need.

Room Tip: A room with a balcony is always nice.

As late-in-life honeymooners, we were looking for some well-deserved pampering. We knew we were at the right place when Howard, (with our permission) seized the luggage and dashed up the stairs to our room. The room, overlooking the Sound, met all of our expectations and then some. There were touches of thoughtfulness and luxury everywhere we looked. We took home some great ideas for decorating our new condo. Janet's superb breakfasts were unforgettable, and her advice about getting around the neighborhood was spot on.

After reading the reviews on Trip Advisor we had set incredibly high standards for the Inn on the Sound and every one of those expectations was surpassed. Howard and Janet were gracious hosts, the gourmet breakfasts were delicious, the location was ideal and the view from our room, the Silver Harbor room, was spectacular. The room itself was spacious, but the ability to retire on the deck with a view of Martha's Vineyard was a trip highlight in itself. Speaking of the island, if you are heading over ask Janet for the highlights and lowlights as she was straight forward and it saved us a great deal of time. I'd like to be critical of something, but I honestly have nothing bad to say about our three night stay. We would go back in a heart beat.

Room Tip: Get an ocean view with a deck if possible. It's well worth it.

I never write reviews of anything, but this place was so wonderful I have to stop and let everyone know about it. Howard and Jan are the best innkeepers I've ever come across. Their attention to detail is amazing.

The hotel is right on the beach (a nonbusy road in between). My husband and I ran every morning along the sidewalk path that runs along the coast. Bicycle rentals are a block away. There's a British pub a block away too, which we frequented in the evenings.

The inn is stocked with books, a laptop/printer for public use, daily newspapers, free sodas, waters, and supplies for all sorts of teas and coffee. Fruit and biscotti are always available. There's even a dedicated spot in the refrigerator for guest use. The innkeepers are very knowledgable about every question we asked -- travel tips, the history of the area, etc.

There were two things that stood out to me most... breakfast, and the housekeeping. Every morning a beautiful artistic display of fruits, breads, and chobani yogurt was availabe, but the best part was the special hot breakfast of the day -- egg dishes, waffles, etc. To die for! They even cooked up my husband's special egg requests. During breakfast and throughout the day, our room was straightened and towels refreshed. We were amazed every time we walked back in the room.

I've would suggest you look no further if you are considering a stay in Cape Cod.

Spent 3 nights (Sunday through Tuesday) at this wonderful inn in Falmouth, MA. Was warmly greated upon arrival by Howard, who clearly pays attention to all the little details one could want.

The guest pantry was well stocked with a large variety of sodas and water, with dedicated space for guests to put items in the refrigerator. A full set of dishes was available for us to use, including a cheese board, cork screw, wine and champagne glasses etc.

Our room, Silver Harbor View, was beautifully decorated; it was worth the few extra dollars for the view and terrace this room provided. We woke each morning overlooking the water.
The bathroom was adequately sized with a large shower and many ammenities, including the Bee Kind line of bath products, which we loved. In the closet were two bathrobes and a beach tote with two large beach towels. Beach chairs were available for our use.

Breakfast each morning was nothing short of fantastic. In addition to cold cereal, yogurt and delicious fresh fruit, fresh baked muffins or coffee cake, a glass of freshly squeezed orange or grapefruit juice was offered before we even sat down. In addition, each morning offered a different hot dish: baked french toast with fresh berries, 7 vegetable quiche, and mushroom/potato tartlette. All were wonderful. Howard mentioned that he offers 9 different dishes so that guests are guaranteed something different every morning throughout their stay. Seating was available inside, on the front deck, and trays were available if you wanted to take your breakfast back to your room.

As one would expect from a good inkeeper, Howard was able to provide us detailed information about Falmouth and the surrounding Cape communities. Whether it was how to get to the ferry, what restaurants to eat at or where to get the best local ice cream, his help made our vacation even more special.

We will be back as soon as we can!

Quite frankly, this is the best place I have ever stayed. Falmouth is great on its own: long, pleasant walks to great dinner every night, osprey to watch, sunrises to see. But the Inn on the Sound makes a good trip transcendent. The food was amazing in flavor, quantity, variety, and appearance. Never had I had fruit salad so fresh and flavorful, and never have I had a fantastic soufflé with a sailboat built from tiny slices of bread. The innkeepers enjoy what they do, obviously, and they manage a wonderful balance between being social and letting guests enjoy the retreat that the inn provides. Rooms wonderful with tons of little touches that continue the theme of great care made to look effortless. Returning next year for a longer stay.

The very best part of my second trip to wonderful Cape Cod was the "Inn On The Sound". The Innkepers, Jan and Howard, could not have been any more attentive to our EVERY need. Each morning I looked forward to breakfast on the deck overlooking the ocean, hearing the birds and feeling the breeze. Our innkeepers served delicious gourmet breakfasts every morning and, with seemingly no effort, served me my requested gluten-free delicious version of the same dishes. Where can you get that kind of service? There were fresh pastries, fruit and freshly squeezed orange juice available as well and a stocked kitchen available for the guests at any hour. The rooms are all tastefully furnished, most with great views and some with private decks. The entire inn was immaculate and the rooms were cleaned, tidyed-up every day with lush thick towel changes. I cannot recommend a stay at this Bed and Breakfast highly enough and hope to return. Jan H.
