The Shining Sea Bike Path runs from downtown Falmouth to the ferry terminal in Woods Hole -- a total of about 4 miles or so. It's almost completely level and affords some gorgeous views of the waters of Vineyard Sound which were, indeed, shining in the noon sun when I made the trip with my family today. The only complaint is that it's far too short (hopefully it can be extended up further north). But, as it stands, it should make for a great outing for families with smaller childern (there were quite a few out today). There are a number of parking lots on the northern end of the trail, which makes riding it north to south more or less obligatory and provides the opportunity for taking break in Woods Hole (we headed over to the Landfall restaurant and had a pleasant lunch).
