“Great place to stay”

We stayed there this past weekend for the Cape Cod Marathon. The check in staff was helpful, the rooms were clean (a little dated, but who really cares about the color of the sink/toilet??), beds were comfy, breakfast buffet was included and very delicious. So many choices and waitstaff was extremely attentive. Our room had a fridge and a microwave which was a nice addition. The indoor pool was huge, and great for the kids in the evenings. Yes there weren't towels by the pool as one reviewer stated, but we just brought them from our room. We called housekeeping when we got back to our room and they brought us more towels, soap and shampoo within 10 minutes. Sure there was a little wear and tear around the edges in certain spots, but overall it was a clean, friendly and centrally located hotel. We will definitely return again. Make sure you stop into Liam McGuires on Main Street. It was a great place to have a meal/watch the Sox play/and enjoy some live music. They have a large menu and are very family friendly.

We have stayed here three times, and love the location and grounds. The rooms are also adequate--not luxury but adequate. However, last visit, we locked our room before going to the buffet breakfast and returned again only to find our digital camera missing. Afterward, my husband thought I had packed it; I thought he had. But we know we had left and seen it there before the dining-room visit. That afternoon, on our way home, when we discovered it was truly gone, we returned to the hotel. They were polite, inquired of the housekeeping staff (!), but nothing. After we got home and another thorough search of car, luggage, etc., I wrote a letter explaining that the camera had the only photo of our 20th anniversary. Could they inquire or search again? I have not heard from the resort since.

I understand that management cannot supervise a room's security 24/7, but this has happened more than once to us--we (foolishly) assume that a locked hotel room means a secure one. Not so. And the illusion of the 'historic inn' and the gentler, kinder styled accomodations is ... well ... just that: an illusion.

In conclusion, this is a nice place to stay, but take all valuables with you. I, of course, will not be staying here again. There are lots of other places, with a slightly more congenial front-desk manner and the curtesy to at least respond to one's complaint.

“Very disappointing to say the least.”

The in-hospitable attitude of management staff made our stay unpleasant to say the least. We got the distinct impression we were not that welcome with 2 children, however well behaved! This place might be OK for seniors.
Booking 2 rooms by 'phone I was quoted prices that were more expensive upon check-in. Response to my questioning, I was told "I couldn't give you what we don't have"! Dining room maitre d' explained that the "TIME OUT" table so marked was to "keep kids in line". Family tables are set aside in a darkened corner of the basement dining room. Not funny! Breakfast wait staff were very attentive and nice and breakfast (only meal served) was OK.
Rooms are decorated in 1960's style complete with avocado colored bath and plastic flowers) and altho they were clean, there was a moldy smell throughout. Our bathroom door wouldn't shut and the other room's bathroom ceiling was falling down! Towels (1 small bath size per person) and none available for pools. 2 small soaps and 1 shampoo and shower cap per room.) Fridge and microwave available in higher priced "superior room" but no kitchen wares. These rooms overlook parking lots. Motel (not an inn or resort) location great and grounds well kept. A pity a possibly very nice vacation was ruined by rude and unwelcoming management. We won't return and don't recommend this overpriced place.

We have stay at Shoreway Acres at least 6 times a year for the last decade. Normally in one of the pool building rooms as they are spacious with a real refrigerator/freezer. the breakfast buffet has a variety of hot and cold food including sliced fruit, muffins, yogurt, eggs, bacon, sausages, homefries, as well as a selection of juices, cofee, tea or milk. You can pick from either the indoor or outdoor pool. The grounds are expansive and well kept with an assortment of lawn furniture. one of Shoreway's best features is that this is a family owned and operated inn. The owners are on the property everyday working hard to ensure your stay is an enjoyable one. The staff is friendly and helpful, it makes a difference when people smile and say hello when you pass by. Also its location is ideal, only a block from Main St. and a 10 minute walk to the beach. We highly recommend staying here and look forward to each visit.

“Pleasantly surprised”

ShoreWay Acres Inn

Jun 12, 2007

We stayed at ShoreWay Acres Inn for five nights in May as part of a tour with Page & Moy. Wasn't expecting too much after reading the reviews on this site but was pleasantly surprised. The hotel was very quiet as the season doesn't really start until beginning of June. Our room was in the block where the indoor pool is and I think maybe these are the best rooms. The Shoreway Acres is a motel not a hotel and the other blocks of rooms all open to the outside and involve a walk outside to the dining room. These blocks are wood built and maybe this accounts for the musty smell reported by some people.

The room was large with two double beds (comfortable), tv, armchair and at one end a table and chairs, fridge/freezer, microwave and coffee maker. The decor is not new and the bathroom a little dated but clean and comfortable. There was air conditioning and heating in the room. Our package included the buffet breakfast which we thought was very good and the staff were very friendly and welcoming.

The inn is two minutes walk from the main street in Falmouth, Liam Mcguires irish bar and plenty of other restaurants which is very handy when it is raining! Falmouth is a quaint pretty little town and very clean!
