“Recommended if you're staying in Boston”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2014

The Hostel is located in Everett but access to Boston is very easy via the Trains. They offer a free shuttle service to the train, or you could walk or take the bus to Wellington Station, the bus stop is just down the road in Main St.

The staff at the front desk are very helpful if you have any questions or queries especially Chris and Steve.

The facilities are very good especially the hot showers and free internet and computers to use. Another good thing about being in Everett is that it wouldn't be too noisy at night and you can get a good rest.

Overall I was very happy with this accommodation and would recommend to anyone visiting Boston.

Rooms were stinky, filthy, and cheap rubber mattresses were very uncomfortable. Shared toilets and showers were decently clean although they were used by at least 50 people in the premises.
Completely out of the way. If you miss the last shuttle ride offered by the hotel staff at 11pm, you'd have to walk a looong way on a dark road from the nearest subway station.
Way too expensive for the value. For 5 dollars more a night you could easily get a much better accommodation in a more central area.
Not recommended at all!

This place is an average hostel with an average breakfast. I paid 50 USD for a dorm bed. I don't have any complaints. They have a shuttle every 30 min betwixt Wellington metro station and the hostel. They have also painted (!) an orange line between the hostel and the metro which is situated about a mile away. The neighborhood seemed very safe.

The best hostel to go to in all of Boston. It is cheap, clean, offer free rides to the subway station all day every day. Every member of staff went out of their way to get to know each and every individual and to make their stay as comfortable as possible....

The hostel is a decent enough, clean enough place for the price.

Common areas were nice and they had a good 5 computers that were free of use.

A little out the way of the main city so you will need to use the subway to get there and back. They offer free shuttle runs to the nearest subway station (alternatively all the bus routes from the subway stop within a minutes walk of the hostel.

Room Tip: Stayed in room 4 which had air con (am informed not all of them do)

If you are looking for an inexpensive place to stay within easy reach of Boston's main locations, there is much to commend Backpacker's. Everett is north of Boston and the hostel is a bit of a hike from Wellington T station. But the hostel has a half-hourly shuttle service from 08.30 to 10.00 pm. The staff are friendly and helpful - a special mention for Chris who gave me a lot of help - and it's fun to chat to fellow travellers. The pub provides soft drinks and cold beer - a two for $5 deal - and complimentary coffee in the morning, and self-service toast. They could do with having more sockets in the dorms for charging phones and cameras, though there are plenty dotted around the public rooms. Take a padlock if you want to use a locker.

Great hostel. Not the best location as it isn't actually in Boston but the neighbouring Everett. However the staff have painted a trail you can walk to the subway station which is about 10 minutes away. They also run shuttles in their cars which take you to the station. One guy even gave us a lift when we'd missed the shuttle. Very helpful! Good common areas, bar, pool table, TV and computers. Enough parking spaces if you've hired a car and nice breakfast. Rooms are standard hostel rooms and there was never a queue for the showers. Would be perfect if it was a little closer.
