Quite some walking distance from downtown E'town in a small Cape shingled house is the new restaurant, an American New England style bistro. Simple interior with loads of light wood, modest tables, an odd assortment of wood chairs, and banquettes with pillows. Nothing matches but there is charm in this fresh country homestyle restaurant. A few parking spaces in tge rear... eat in or outside on the screened porch. It's very loud and they play their ambiance music way too loud.
After a hesitant uncomfortable greeting from the hostess because we didn't have reservations (many tables were vacant and stayed so), the service was friendly if a bit rough. Lovely young women, with great enthusiasm for describing the specials,
Where it matters most is the incredibly fresh high quality locally grown cuisine. Wonderful veggies(fthey would do well to forget the Bok Choy)..and creative sides, the most wonderful fresh chive filled great textured mashed potatos, and salmon cooked in the best sauce I've ever eaten. There is a sparse bread serving, so tiny that it looked like leftover end slices..but very good.
Every dish we had was superb and fresh. Watch out State Road, you've got stellar competition...with a bit of quirky country charm, Location may not be in it's favor tho.
