We came for a few days during school vacation week. The new cottages are spectacular and have all he comforts of home plus plus. Cool pull out bunks for the kids and flat screens in every room. The vineyard is great this time of year. Staff were great and the location is perfect. We will be back this summer.

Chip was great at the front desk very informative but let us get on to a thrid floor room with a great view of south beach. Sat on deck with glass of wine , great bird watching , full moon. Dinner at lure Steven and Alfonse where freindly infromative and obveously true professionals in hospitality not just a summer job for them and it shows . Food was great tasty , very well plated lobster puff was the star. Berry tart with vanilla ice cream frist rate berrys not over sugared as the ice cream melts it sweetened the dish just right . a nod to the wiat staff and the kitchen for getting this to the table with the ice cream so cold and the tart so hot . It made the dish much more enjoyable to mix the hot and cold as we wanted. Everything was clean and as it should be. It looks and feels like they value maintance . so as not to bother the guest with room problems. This is the vineyards beach resort not a hotel in town did not not feel like i needed a blue blazer, but would not feel out of place in one my choice . Over all fun relaxing good food professonal staff should set a high standard for summer help we will go back (we are locals slipping away) and send our guests there .

Room Tip: third floor views

We rented a condo at Winnetu - very clean. The condo was central to everything Winnetu has to offer and a quick walk to the beach - which was great. We took a ferry over from Woods Hole and stayed a week and brought our own vehicle - very easy process to book online. There's bikes to rent and they can be dropped off at your condo plus there's tandem bikes for kids who are too young or inexperienced to ride on their own The roads are pretty flat so it is easy riding for youngsters and there's a candy store and ice cream shop in town as a fun destination at the end of the ride. There are two decent sized pools at Winnetu as well as an oversized chess game and family fun on the lawn. I would skip the lobster/clam bake - it isn't worth the price and it wasn't that fun. I would recommend picking up seafood and making some at home as well as grocery shopping in town versus buying at the store on the property (variety and prices are better). We are heading back again this year and are looking forward to a memorable summer. The kids did go to one day of "camp" that was offered by the property - they all had fun and if you go around 4th of July - the fireworks over the bay at spectacular.

Room Tip: I would stay in a condo versus renting a room - kids love being able to eat at "home" vers...

We traveled here in late summer with our newborn and toddler and had an amazing time. Since we were there in September, we were able to participate in the daily parent/toddler program. Our daughter had an amazing time - the "teacher" and other kids even made her a sand "birthday cake" to celebrate her second birthday. It was a great time of year to visit since it wasn't crowded but the weather was still lovely.

Our room was big (had a separate room for kids to sleep in), and it was clean and well-appointed.

The resort grounds are beautiful, and the staff was helpful. There are lots of nice touches like daily cookies and lemonade in the afternoon and free parking on site. The pools were also nice.

I was prompted to write a rather late review on our stay last June as I confirmed our booking to go back this summer. I cannot praise or recommend this place highly enough, and with all the positive reviews already I will leave some more specifics on our stay that might be helpful. We were a family of 3...two adults and our daughter who was 3 at the time. My daughter talks about it still and keeps asking when we can go back. It isn't cheap, but it certainly is value for money if you want a balance of time with the kids and time for you, and a top end resort that really is child friendly.

Kids club every day from 9-12 was extremely well done. They pick the kids up in a little mini bus each morning from the main reception area and take them the very very short ride to the kids club. Although my daughter was a little nervous on day 1 to get on by herself, by the next day she was excited to get the bus and go off on a new adventure. There are lots of lovely staff, and they really do seem to cater to all ages (the groups are segmented by age) with crafts and themed projects for little ones through to tennis for older ones. They take them around the resort area as well vs just keep them indoors in a playroom...searching for pirate treasure one day (with crafts following the same theme) and fishing for turtles and feeding them on another. We were watching the turtle trip from our Adirondack chairs on the lawn and it was really very sweet!
Needless to say, this inclusive option also means that us parents get a break and time to relax during which I did yoga on the lawn one morning, strolled along the gorgeous beach, swam in the pool and read books.

Beach access...gorgeous beach which was very quiet when we were there and could not be much closer...a short walk through the trees.

Service was flawless. Sad to see the current GM is retiring to Florida. We spent some time chatting as we share Scotland as our birthplace and he was always friendly and engaging despite clearly being very busy. His background at a luxury hotel group shows in this resort.

Coffee shop on site for those of us who love our morning lattes!

Extra touches for kids like antique fire truck rides and lemonade and cookies each afternoon, and evening fire pit s'mores.

Concierge was very helpful...we discovered we needed a bed rail for the alcove bed and we had it within 30 mins at a small charge s they hire in equipment from a local firm.

Good but worth noting...

Rooms are comfortable but basic. We stayed in a studio in the ground floor just off the main courtyard by the giant chess set. The resort was quiet so we found this location ok but might have been disturbed by noise in busier periods. The studios technically sleep 3 but the alcove bed is not really a proper bed size...it is very narrow...and is quite high up...so is suitable in size for a small child, but you do need a rail as otherwise they would easily fall onto the tiled floor below. Adult bed very comfy though. Very clean throughout. Kitchen equipped with basics vs bells and whistles but a welcome practical addition for breakfast, snacks and the odd meal. A small table is in the room for dining...again, functional but all quite jammed in so not really a separate space and would not seat more than 3. You are however welcome to use the tables outside around the resort which we did for breakfast on a few occasions.

Resort activities outside of peak season are limited, even in summer. Check website or call resort for details but its a shame there aren't a few more things in June for those of us whose kids are already on vacation from school. Eg more than one yoga session a week etc, more than one kids evening activity.

Babysitting/kids activities in the evening. I think this is something they could d a little more of to make things easier for parents. The one night this was offered, we went for a lovely dinner in town and our daughter had pizza, watched a movie and made s'mores.

Restaurants...the poolside grill only opened on our last day which was a shame. We never ate at Lure...it seemed at face value more adults and formal so we opted for options in town.

Go to Menemsha for sunset. Take a camera, a blanket for the beach, a picnic or at least wine, snacks or a flask of coffee and wrap up warm as it gets very chilly as the sun goes down. Also something to amuse the kids NSA you wait.

Edgartown...Alchemy for dinner sans kids.

Waterside market for lunch in Vineyard Haven...amazing sandwiches...seriously the best BLT with avodado I have ever tasted,

Back door donuts and the fudge store!

Am sure you don't need a car but with a small child we found it helpful to explore.

All in all, I would highly recommend. We are returning with another family this year and trying out the townhouse option which seems very reasonable compared with other MV rentals, even before you consider the facilities. One last tip is to think about times of year if you're not so bothered about guaranteed weather then June is way more reasonable than August, so if you are flexible, compare a few dates before ruling it out based on cost.

Room Tip: Studios are a great value option with one small child. Townhouses seem to offer great value if you...

My daughter was married here on October 20th, 2012. From my first phone call 6 months prior to checkout the ENTIRE experience was beyond words. Every positive adjective I can think of can be used to describe the staff...every single one of them and the resort itself.
Having to plan the wedding from out of state was made incredibly simple. Every call was answered, every question answered in timely manner and every concern was actually addressed before I even voiced them, I swear they all could read my mind....amazing!!
The resort and rooms were beautiful, spotlessly clean and fresh smelling. The grounds were immaculate.
The staff, Roderick, Michaela, Anna, Matt (a fabulous and accommodating chef!), Wendy, Liz and Adrienne - all beyond exceptional as were the entire waitstaff and bar manager.
Honestly, not enough can be said about their professionalism, their warmth and generosity. All told, they were responsible for orchestrating our dream wedding, we may have had the vision but they brought it to life.
The Winnetu is one of a kind and I would most highly recommend this resort for a vacation, a family getaway as they cater to children and especially a most memorable wedding or special event....go go go go go!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you Winnetu staff for making dreams come true and for being the special people that you ALL are!

This was our second year a the Winnetu. We visited with three other couples for a golf/shopping getaway. As was our experience last year the service was again fantastic. There always seemed to be someone nearby that offered assistance. We had dinner on the beach one night and when the weather turned, the carts and vans just appeared and moved the party into the activities center.

We've stayed at some high end resorts and sometimes the staff, while cheery and helpful seem like they are reading from an instructional manual. The staff at the Winnetu offered customized, caring service. The made us feel like they genuinely wanted us to have an enjoyable stay! If that was their goal they definitely succeeded. Looking forward to next year already!
