For the best informal fine dining on the island, be sure to go to the bar at the Harbor View Hotel in Edgartown. The bar is called Henry's we love everything about it. Unlike a typical bar, Henry’s has two areas: the main area where one can sit at the bar or at small high-top tables and experience a typical bar atmosphere, and a side room with small dining tables, candlelight and has a cozy pub feel. The menu is inventive and features small plate selections which are ample enough for a meal when paired with soup, salad or an appetizer.
My husband and I always plan on at least one meal at Henry’s when we are on the Vineyard and look forward to the nice atmosphere, good service, and great food. During our last trip in the beginning of November we ended up at Henry’s three out of the four nights we spent at the Harbor View – partly because of the weather (which was truly lousy then) but mostly because the already good selection was enhanced by an Autumn menu which featured a different dinner each day. All the specials were wonderful. As always, the food was truly top notch and the service was just right: helpful, friendly, and attentive but not overbearing.
Next time you are on the Vineyard, do yourself a favor and stop in for dinner at Henry’s – you’ll be glad you did!
P.S. Do not confuse Henry’s with the Harbor View’s main restaurant - Water Street - which does not rate the same accolades from this reviewer
