My fiancee (we got engaged during our trip to MV) and I stayed at the Ashley Inn for 2 nights in July and we enjoyed our stay very much! The Inn is quaint, welcoming, and exactly what we were expecting from a B&B on the vineyard.

The accomodations with regards to the bed, bedding, linens, (as others commented on) were average, but everything was tastefully decorated and clean. The staff (especially Sara) went above and beyond to make our stay memorable.

The afternoon homemade cookies and afternoon tea were a nice touch.

The breakfast was delicious, well prepared and presented! We are still telling friends and family about the breakfast.

We are looking forward to our return, but this time will try to book the carriage house.

We stayed at the Ashley Inn for two nights. Here's our overall assessment:

Pros:
The inn is conveniently located within walking distance of Edgartown shops and restaurants.

Cons:
Our room had a worn out couch and the cheapest quality window blinds I have ever seen. The airconditioner was too small to cool off the room. The temperature was about 80 degrees one day that we were there and the airconditioning just couldn't keep up to it. The room was not at all tastefully decorated. At best, I could compare it to a comfort inn room. For upwards of $250 per night that we paid, one would expect something much better. The bathroom door didn't have a lock; rather it had a sort of a hook that kept the bathroom door partly and loosely shut. The bed was screaky and not the type of bed and mattress you would expect when you pay that price. I think we saw Fred a couple of times, but he didn't bother to introduce himself. We kind of felt unwelcome. The breakfast was average. It however took a long time for the inn keepers to serve the guests.

My recommendation to the inn owners: consider reinvesting in the inn as it requires some serious upgrades to make the guests feel comfortable.

We will keep going back to Martha's Vineyard, as we love the place, but will not stay at Ashley Inn again.

We stayed at the Ashley Inn, Edgartown MA for almost a week in October 2006.

The accomodations were terrific; the cleanliness was surperb.

Upon our arrival we were delighted with frest flowers adorning a table or two.

Fred and Janet Hurley are delightful and certainly went out of their way to make sure all our needs were met..

The homemade breakfasts served each morning were simply
delicious and presented with class.

We are looking forward to another week in October 2007.

“Spacious connecting ground floor rooms were very convenient”

Ashley Inn Bed and Breakfast

Our visit to the Ashley Inn was a pleasant and quiet stay at the end of a busy 7 state Fall Foliage Tour. I was escorting 3 senior ladies and we were very pleased with our accommodations and the box of chocolates that was waiting our arrival. Fred was great in accommodating us on ground floor connecting rooms. We also enjoyed having our own private entrances. We stayed 2 nights and appreciated the historic feel of our rooms which were cleaned daily. The bathrooms had been upgraded with all the toiletries that we needed.
We felt welcomed and comfortable as we relaxed in the beautifully decorated home that included plenty of reading material about Edgartown and Martha’s Vineyard. Each afternoon we were treated to freshly baked cookies and breads with our tea.
Our breakfasts were excellent and to our surprise we were given a couple of choices unlike other B & B’s.
Fred took the time to give us detailed suggestions for places to visit and restaurants.
A couple of things that I would add to the room with the kitchen would be a few essential dishes and silverware. We enjoyed Edgartown’s location and quaintness.
