This is our fourth year staying at the Edgartown Commons. The bedrooms are spacious and have a nice size area for living/eating space. Many rooms have a private deck with patio furniture as well. They also have plenty of picnic tables and outdoor grills. We go the end of June and get a 2Bdrm for $135. For the money and the space you can't beat it. The value is unheard of. The pool is very clean and right near all the rooms. The sanded playground is well maintained and perfect for kids. It's a very short walk to the town and restaurants and shops. I read some earlier comments about cleanliness and dated bedding. I have to say that they updated with all new bedding this year, very tasteful soft and comfortable bedding. The rooms are VERY neat and well maintained. We love this place, it has everything a family could need to make for a comfortable, fun vacation. We already booked our room for next year. If you are looking for a nice, neat, roomy space for a reasonable price then you will not be disappointed at the Edgartown Commons. We are not easy to please either. :-)

We have stayed at Edgartown Commons now for 12 years. We come the 4th of July week and each year we see a lot of the same families. Usually there are 3 to 5 other families with us. It is a great place for families with Children young and old as there is so much to do.. Since each unit is individually owned the furnishings vary greatly from unit to unit. As for the housekeeping they are lovely ladies and each year we come back they greet us with warm welcoming smiles and Welcome Back! The negative reviews are from people who are looking for the Ritz. We do not have housekeeping at home and do not need it, however if you need to borrow the vacuum after a day at the beach the ladies are more than happy to let you use a vacuum. As for Rick and Janet the are actually very nice and easy to get along with

I was looking for reasonable accommodations to visit my son who is summering in
Edgartown. This was so perfect... kitchen, living room, bedroom, pool and a minute
walk to town. I would have stayed all summer if I could have.

Rick checked us in and it just got better as we went! He was a great host and made us feel welcome, followed by MIA, the adorably cuddly Golden Retriever.

We lucked out and got # 11 -the 2 bedroom suite which served as central location for long weekend in MVY with 7 women. Others had #14 upstairs nice and # 1 around corner and smaller. There was 2 of us per room but you could get double in each room if you wanted to have the other twin in one room (I had a half bath) and share the double bed w/ full bath.

The kitchen had everything one could need including a full size oven which came in handy when I made margharita pizzas.

Nice living room and dining room table that accomodated our large group!

The location is great and an easy walk to downtown Edgartown. Plenty of parking!

It has a nice pool but we didn't use as it was a bit chilly yet for that.

I must say I was a bit concerned prior to arrival when I read the negative reviews, but I found them completely unfounded. Great value! Will definitely recommend and would go back in a heart beat!

Our multigenerational family returns to the Commons year after year. Despite the negative comments from others, our vacations have always been amazing. Be aware that each unit has an individual owner who is responsible for its furnishings and amenities. This may account for the criticism of the units which are not as well maintained. Management and housekeeping staff are on site and receptive and accommodating to all guests. Soooo much better than a hotel room and eating out 3 meals/day. A complete kitchen in every unit is a huge asset for families with children.
Parking, pool, playground, proximity to town and beaches complete the package.

My husband and I did not realize that the hotel had an 11am check-out time. We came back to our room at 11:50am from a brunch to pack up and check out only to find our room completely empty. The hotel staff had packed up all of our stuff (very randomly) and essentially kicked us out. Our bags were sitting in the main hallway, with shoes piled on top of dresses and with glasses, cell phones and jewelry thrown into bags randomly. Given how disorganized everthing was, it was difficult to check whether anything was missing. When I got home I discovered that a bracelet was missing. When I called to let the hotel know, the management did not apologize but simply referred to the 11am check-out time. I have never been to a hotel that kicks guests out with no heads up. This place is inexpensive but old and musty and the management is grumpy and unpleasant. Beware - they clearly have no issue going through your things.
