“Returning year after year”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2013

Most recent stay at EC was June 2013. I won't mention which unit we stay in because we really enjoy our two week vacation in this unit year after year and don't want anyone else to book it for next year.

But, have to say, after always returning to this unit and Edgartown Commons, we, obviously, are pleased with the accommodations

No, EC isn't A/C. Our unit does have a window A/C in the closet and if it gets rainy/humid/hot, we put the unit in the window. No complaints from management.

What really bothers me after reading all the above reviews from past dates is some have negative comments about the cleaning staff. Hey?????????What's with you guys?

If something isn't just perfect when you arrive - if you go to the front desk and mention your dissatisfaction,, it definitely will be taken care of. The cleaning staff of 4-5 Jamaican women, such caring and friendly women, will care for you according to your wishes . They strive to help you and have always been friendly and helpful to us. Some of them have remained friends beyond the high season.

This is a family condo vacation spot, privately owned by individual owners for each unit. Every unit is different, decorated with the owner's wishes but all share common kitchen requirements such as kitchen tools/pans to cook with, etc. Some are really pretty and some aren't, needing updating.

Ours has been updated every other year and we are happy. We are definitely happy with the cleaning staff as they have been wonderful to us. Just ask and you will get. You do have to take your kitchen garbage bag to the dumpster when it's full and if you stay over 3 days, you get your bed linens changed but if overnight or for two days, nope, you won't be seeing the cleaning staff unless you need something.

We enjoy Edgartown Commons because it's in the heart of town and if you don't expect world class accommodations, but just clean accommodations, friendly staff, you will be happy here. If you want 4* accommodations, choose the HarborView! It's gorgeous and very expensive!

Stayed here in August 2013 in a two bed suite in the main house. The location was fantastic, we were able to walk everywhere, accommodation was very clean and spacious. The staff were very friendly and obliging. Only problem was not being able to stay longer!

In August 2013 I stayed for one week at Edgartown Commons. It was my second week-long stay in two years . I stayed with a friend in a one-bedroom corner unit on the first floor. It was clean, airy and roomy, with a well-equipped kitchen and a lovely dining area.

If you are really into cooking, you may want to bring your own knives, an omelette pan, microplane, etc. I learned this in 2012- so I have a travel/cooking go-kit for when I travel to MVY . You might also bring your own had mixer if you plan to bake. This equipment takes up very little room in your car. You save tons of money by not having to eat out every night. I usually eat out 3-4 nights and eat in the other nights. I eat breakfast in except when I want to try out a restaurant like Biscuits in Oak Bluffs which actually serves breakfast until 3 PM and is excellent.

The furnishings were modern, yet in keeping with the MVY atmosphere. It was close to everything- ferries, shopping, tourist attractions, restaurants and a five-minute drive to the local stop and shop on Main Street and the Edgartown Fish Market-so that you an purchase perishable items.

It is an excellent value for the money. The staff is wonderful. If you are a driver, it is also close to the main roads and is accessible to everything. I've already reserved my unit for summer 2014.

Room Tip: Get a unit on the first floor on Pease Point Way. They are cooler and there is parking right in fron...

This summer we decided to take the family - 6 of us (4 kids 12 and under) - to Martha's Vineyard. After much research by my wife, we decided to stay at Edgartown Commons, and are so glad we did. first, we were impressed by the fact that they needed to check with another family that had been coming every summer before they let us have the room we needed. When we arrived and had a spacious 2 bedroom apartment with a full family room, kitchen, 1.5 baths, we were very happy with this much space. the place is old like many places in this part of the country, but everything was well-maintained. One thing that we did not expect was that there is no air conditioning. This took us by surprise at first - living in the southeastern US, everything is air conditioned. We soon learned that many places on Martha's Vineyard are not air conditioned - the cool nights with windows open and fans on are actually perfect.
The location in Edgartown is great - walking distance to the great shopping district, nice local stores like Black Dog and Vineyard Vines. Many great restaurants nearby - our favorites in that area were the Newes from America Pub and Atria. In nearby Oaks Bluff, the Offshore Ale Co is great for burgers, pizza, etc and as the name implies, they make their own tasty beer. Sharky's is a Mexican chain on the island, food is good, but clearly they have no competition because they nickel and dime you for everything. great service however.
From Edgartown Commons, it's also very easy to walk to the harbor, Edgartown Lighthouse and Beach. The walks are short and streets lined with stately homes, some of which date back centuries ago. The street in front of Edgartown Commons is fairly busy, especially at the height of the season, so be careful with young children. We aborted a couple of bike rides right there because of heavy traffic and our inexperienced riders had some close calls. Other places on the island however have great bike trails that go for miles and miles. From Edgartown, once safely on a bike path, you can ride north towards Oak Bluffs where there are bridges people can jump from, a small lake where we watched dozens of kite surfers ride the breeze, and long beaches with plenty of parking and access.
the apartment itself was well stocked with bedding, cooking equipment, fans, etc. The staff there was very accommodating and accessible, and the maid service was very friendly and reliable. really a great experience.

We stayed for 5 nights in a one bedroom apartment and were very happy. This is not a 5 star property, but it is a great option at a low price point. The location was great and we enjoyed the walk into Edgartown. We loved having a separate living room to allow for sleep in the bedroom when needed. And we also enjoyed having the full kitchen. Although we used it for just the refrigerator and coffee machine, we may take advantage of it more on our next trip.

Beyond that, basic does describe the room. Don't come if you are want nice new furniture, bedding and an uncluttered hotel room. And don't come for the white glove service, but what was there is friendly and helpful.

Easy parking and free internet rounded out a really nice stay for a great price. (we stayed in May and the one bedroom suites were $60 on the weekdays. Weekends were still a bargain at double the price).

My family and I stayed in Edgartown Commons in September of 2012 and we found it to be the best value in Edgartown. The rates are about $100 / night less than anything else we found (B&B's and hotels) and it has an outdoor pool and kitchen in the units. The location is awesome; just around the corner from the Edgartown bus stop and right in downtown Edgartown walking distance to restaurants, beach, harbor, bike path and Chappy ferry. We loved it and highly recommend it to people who appreciate a good value.

Room Tip: A variety of studios, 1 BRs and 2 BRs - ask for recommendations when you call.
