My girlfriend & I made the unfortunate mistake of trying this inexpensive motel. It's too bad that the reception lady was pleasant because this place is terrible. Our room was as bare bones as can be, dingy, and only a small step up from someone's average shed where they'd store backyard and lawn equipment. The beds were made but there was a strange odor throughout and the sheets looked unwashed and yellow with sweat stains on the pillowcases. The floors are cheap plywood and the depraved condition wasn't helped by the bathroom light barely working, giving way to a flickering, faint yellowed glow. Cheap toilet, cheap floors, cheap everything. I'm saying "cheap" not to be confused with "inexpensive". The only reasons I'm not giving this place a rock bottom rating for everything is because the room wasn't covered in trash, the beds were made, and the front desk lady was pleasant. They were thankfully able to refund my payment in full. INSTEAD, I highly recommend the Eagle Wing Guest Motel also in Eastham. It was the SAME price as we would've paid for that overpriced p.o.s. shack but MILES AND MILES AHEAD in terms of quality, service, atmosphere, and value. Don't just take my word for it. Look up reviews for Eagle Wing and you'll see it's across the board.

My wife and I spend a weekend at captains quarters and had a very pleasant time. Our room was close to the bike trail, far away from traffic and other noises. This is a great place to be on the cape!

A great value for the money. The rooms were neat and clean. A small local place with real flavor. The breakfast was a big plus so we could start our day spending our vacation time at the beach and all the other attractions near by. You can't beat this location for a Cape Cod vacation. We would certainly come back for another stay this fall. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Having stayed on Cape Cod many times before, I was totally prepared for the " basic" hotel room. I was expecting cleanliness and a comfortable bed. What I found was sheets that did not fit and I wound up sleeping on bare mattress for three nights. I kept waiting for the maids to put new sheets on the bed (after seeing the mess the bed was) and I even left a tip the first night, but as I said, I slept on bare mattress for three nights.

The flourescent lights were glaring and the lamp over the dining/game table was not working. When we arrived the light bulb over the table kept fluttering and finally went out completely. We told the front office the bulb needed to be replaced each morning before we left on our excursions, but it was never replaced. I bet anything it is still not working!

If you stay here expect less than "basic".

My husband and I stayed at the Captains Quarters on a last minute trip to the Cape from Boston. This is one of the few motels that allow a one night stay as most demand a two night minimum.

The desk clerk was polite and friendly when we checked in. The motel room was spacious & clean. It was pretty spartan - yes, 60's style but I wasn't expecting the Westin. And most of the Outer Cape still have these old motels from the 60's which I find quaint - I prefer the small beach town feel vs. a Sheraton.

Towels were white and fluffy. (We were thrilled with a hot shower and clean towels after a 2 hour bike ride). Beds were comfortable. It is what one would expect of a beach motel. I like the fact they have energy saving light features.

The best part was the location. There is a bike path behind the motel which connects to the towns Wellfleet and Orleans and the various beaches.

I would recommend this hotel for the location and value.

  • Liked — clean rooms and fabulous location
  • Disliked — I don't understand why beach motels need carpet. Wood floors would be perfectly fine.
