Driving by this place nothing really stands out except the line up to at the front door which is a tell tale sign something good lurks with in. Arnolds is on a busy piece of highway so you have to really be looking for it or you are going to drive by...just sayin.
Anyway, we are hardcore shellfish fanatics and Arnolds had all the prerequisites of being a hidden gem: mostly locals dining there and menu not trying too hard to have a bit of everything...just simple seafood entrees done in a New England kind of way.
Love the non decor and cafeterianess of Arnolds, it kind of validates the "we are just here to pig out on amazing shellfish" vibe of the place.
Which brings us to the food. These people are experts on preparing simple New England seafood meals. Clam strips, lobsters, chowder, etc done the way you wish they were everywhere but rarely are, and portions that are just right. Love the oyster bar in the dining area, couldnt stop going back for seconds, thirds, fourths.... The supersized beers and margaritas were a nice touch.
Another thing, despite how crowded the place was, the parking lot is large and though I would try to get there before peak hours, dont balk on the place if the line looks long cause it moves. Im dying to go back.
