“First time at a dog-friendly B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

This was the first time my husband and I were adventurous enough to take a family vacation with our dog and our 1 1/2 year old son. We've stayed in Eastham many times, so when I came across The Painted Dog, I was thrilled to find a place our dog was welcome! Dana was extremely flexible about our scheduled arrival and departure and was there to greet us) and our dog) to show us the grounds and the apartment. The apartment was clean and stocked with fresh linens and the kitchen featured all the dishes and pots/pans we would need if we decided to dine in. Our dog quickly made herself at home and our son was thrilled at the chance to sleep in a big bed! There are two good sized bedrooms - one for children and one for adults. The Painted Dog is a short drive from both the Bay and Ocean beaches, so you have your pick. In addition, Eastham is a great location for restaurants, kid-friendly activities. It's a quick ride to Orleans, Chatham, even Wellfleet and Provincetown. We enjoyed ourselves so much we 've already booked our return trip!

We recently had a little winter escape to the Painted Dog. The entire trip was quite impressive. Dan, was really delightful and so helpful to guide us as we had never been to Cape Cod before. I highly recommend this beautiful spot to anyone who wants to have a top notch experience and stress free stay. The accomodations were great and all was quiet and very peaceful. We will be back in the summer. We are really looking foreward to that.

We just spent a lovely winter weekend at The Painted Dog with our three pooches. The dogs loved the freedom they had in the apartment, their own guest food bowls, custom visitor dog tags, large dog run, and quick access to great beaches. We loved the comfy furniture, hotel quality queen sized bed, well-appointed kitchen, and our host, Dana. She made sure we felt welcome and were totally comfortable---within minutes it felt like our place. Everything about the apartment was clean, fresh, and dog-proofed. We look forward to another visit in the spring!

We like to travel with our dog when possible and booked a stay at the Painted Dog in Eastham. Our host, Dana, was most welcoming, gracious and helpful and the rooms were perfect for our situation. There is a small kitchen area which is perfect for preparing meals, should you choose to eat in. There is also a dog run on site which is very nice.
The only drawback for us is that the property is right on Rte 6 so there's a lot of traffic noise day in and day out and the Cape is very crowded in the summer. We like to sit outside and have breakfast or read, but found it impossible to do so because of the overwhelming traffic noise which does not exactly promote relaxation and peace, so if you don't mind that - I would highly recommend the Painted Dog.

We have been staying at The Painted Dog the last several years and we absolutely love it! It has all the comforts of home you could ask for and more. It's a cute apartment on the upper floor of an old farmhouse with Cape Cod personality. There are two bedrooms, one being a child's room and a nice sized fully applianced kitchen/living room. Also there is cable, wifi connection, all linens and there is a doggie path and potty bags with a disposal can set up. Dana, owner, is fabulous and I find very pleasant to talk with and loves animals. She thinks of thoughtful things to like arranging fresh cut wild flowers or leaving us a couple pictures of our dogs on the table from our stay the previous year. The apartment is in a nice location with several area beaches, food markets and the main Cape highway nearby. We wouldn't consider staying anywhere else with our dogs and I can promise that anyone who chooses to rent will NOT be disappointed in any way.

My family of four has stayed in this pet-friendly place four times since August of 2007. We return each year because of the great amenities and location. The apartment has two bedrooms, bathroom, fully stocked kitchen, and small living room. I like it because everything you need is there including all kitchen appliances and equipment, sweeper, cable, even some board games. Linens are provided and beds are already made when you get there unlike some beach houses where we have stayed. The owner is very helpful with suggestions on things to do and loves dogs, so all kinds are welcome. We love the fact that we can take our yellow lab with us and he loves it as much as we do. The bay beach is about a 10 minute drive and other ocean beaches are even a little closer. Great place to stay, wouldn't consider any other place now that we have found it.

Room Tip: The apartment is on the top floor of an old farmhouse and sleeps up to four.
