OK, I'm a sucker for a motel room with a screen door. And this one has enough privacy to use it. My room had a king-sized bed, plenty of floor space around it, a good-sized HDTV, fridge, wet bar (with room for a microwave, guys!), good furniture, and modern bathroom. It was clean and quiet. The reception was cordial and professional. I enjoyed the home-made goods for breakfast. Also note that they have a computer in the reception area where guests may check their e-mail. The owners need to make only four improvements: a microwave in the rooms (otherwise you can use the one in the breakfast room), larger waste baskets in the room, and a channel guide for the enormous number of satellite channels you get, and an earlier breakfast hour. With prices among the lowest I found, I would strongly recommend the Earl as a top place to stay on Cape Cod.
scooper47's top tips: (1) Picturesque Route 6A becomes a nightmare after dark. If you are arriving after dark from the west, look for small, green mile marker "5," and turn right into their driveway in about 40 yards. (2) Your room refrigerator will be unplugged when you arrive, and it makes a lot of noise. Run it at max during the day, then cut the thermostat back half way when you go to bed. Your food stays cold, and you can sleep. (3) No matter what guidebooks say, Route 6A is a nightmare for bicyclists.

The motel units are clustered around a large open area containing a duck pond. The casement picture window of the rooms look out onto this area. The rooms themselves are large, with two "leather" reclining chairs, and ample lighting for reading. The decor is more like your own home than a motel room. The bathrooms are sparse, but clean and serviceable. The management is low-key, adding to the quiet atmosphere.

The continental breakfast is complimentary, and includes an assortment of freshly baked breads and muffins.

After our third stay at this motel, we feel no need to look further for accommodations; it's quiet, clean, and laid back.

Ask for a room in olne of the rear buildings for a view of the pond area.

I'm not used to staying in motel accommodation but booked here because of the great reviews on TripAdvisor. It was idiosyncratic, mostly good accommodation for what we Brits would call a 'B&B'. Beautiful grounds and the staff/owners seemed friendly enough. The dark cave of a bathroom housed a shower which stopped without explanation just after I'd covered my head in shampoo and the wall between rooms was thin enough to hear my neighbour snoring. (cold water in the sink and the ability to sleep during wartime solving both problems).

As a Motel - maybe 5*, I wouldn't know. For a business traveller more used to staying in hotels - then only 2-3*.

Spent a long weekend at the Earl of Sandwich. Our room had a queen size canopy bed w/ a very comfortable mattress...flowered sheets and colored bath towels added to the ambience. Two wing chairs were perfect for sitting.
TV was small but we were out and about the Cape most of the time, but had all the good cable channels.
The continental breakfast was B & B quality w/ homemade breads, fresh friut, and good coffee.
Hair Dryer was not in the room but just ask and one will be delivered. The innkeepers are the owners and make every attempt to make your experience a great one!
Very natural setting with flower beds, a duck pond in the back of the property and bird feeders everywhere!
