“Excellent Inn, great location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2014

We just spent the past 3 days at the Ship's Knees Inn in East Orleans, MA (cape Cod). It was a great experience. I had a hard time finding a place near a beach in Cape Cod. The only places available were very expensive and not very interesting. This one is not on the beach but it is within 500 meters (550 yrs) of one of the most beautiful and not so popular beaches in Cape Cod, Nauset Beach. The Inn is made of an old captain's house and it is located in a quiet residential area. It is set on a beautiful property which has been groomed like a PGA golf course. It has a swimming pool, which is nice considering that the ocean water temperature at this time of the year is so low that only the Polar Bear club members can swim in it. It also has a very nice patio with a gas fire pit and enough tables for all the guests to sit down apart from each others. They serve an exquisite continental breakfast that goes beyond my understanding of what a continental breakfast is. For example, they had some omelette in a tortilla shell. When we were there this past week, the inn was full and the place was yet very quiet. The guests, mostly couples, were friendly and greeted each other politely but were respectful of each other's privacy. Our room was a deluxe queen, it was in the old mansion, it had low ceilings but it was spacious, it had a large fireplace and a lot of charm. The bed was very comfortable and the place was quiet, except for the air conditioning unit that we didn't need at night anyway. It was an excellent experience.

A very good chose in the last moment.
The Inn is better that photos on Booking.
Very nice house, clean, and gentle owners trying to help.
A very good berach at a very short distance.
Breakfast is good but in could be improved with more options.
Our room (twin beds) were maybe not as spacious as others but very nice, we like it a lot. Bed very comfortable.
A needed livingroom for cold days or rainy days, or to rest after a long day would be very appreciated. I know they are already thinking on it.

Stayed here for the weekend. What a beautiful Inn. The Inn Keepers were around every day making sure everything was perfect. From the clean and comfortable rooms, to the outdoor lounging spaces, it was impeccable! The breakfast every morning was spectacular! Homemade scones and granola bars - delicious fruit - creative egg dish YUM! A short walk down to Nauset beach - even after I checked out, the owners allowed me to leave my car parked in their lot so I could go down to the beach once again. I have been coming to East Orleans for over 40 yrs and it just keeps getting better and better!!

This was my second trip to Ships Knees Inn; the first was so impressive my wife and I booked another visit this year. This Historic Captains House B and B at the top of Nauset Beach in Orleans provides you a true Cape experience as you smell the Ocean air as you have one of "Denise's" creative and well thought out breakfast's of scones, fresh fruit, yogurt, or a Muffin before you start the day. Denise's husband Peter is always available for questions and occasionally after a hard days work will sit with you by the gas fire pit for great conversation. Can't leave for the day without patting Marley on the head, the real draw to Ships Knees Inn. Who doesn't love a fourlegged...Next time booking on the Cape, call Ships Knees Inn.....

Room Tip: I prefer the room with a King and a Private entrance....

Everything about this B&B makes your stay on the Cape wonderful - it's the lovely touches that the innkeepers add - from healthy fresh fruit or blueberry scones all presented in creative ways, to the beauty of a true New England Inn set just up from the beach. Biking, swimming, shopping or just relaxing with a book in your cozy room or in an Adirondack chair - we loved it. I can't imagine a better place - we left renewed and rested. Can't wait to return in the summer! Really THE BEST place to stay!

Room Tip: Enjoyed a room upstairs - lovely view.

I belong to the Hearts that Heal grief group that ministers to moms who have lost children. We were all treated to a weekend of refreshment in a place of beauty and hospitality. Very highly recommended.'

Room Tip: Rooms on the second floor on the ocean side have a beautiful view of the ocean.

My husband and I have been spending our summer vacation on the Cape for over 25 years. This year we decided to explore the Cape during the off season. How lucky we were to find the beautiful Ship's Knees Inn to spend our 3 nights in Orleans! Our inviting room was both comfortable and nicely decorated. We made good use of the wine glasses provided as we sat by the fire pit sipping wine on our first night there. Oh, soooo relaxing!! The delicious breakfasts were always presented in a lovely way. The homemade baked goods and the yogurt parfaits were our favorites!! The walk from our room in the main house through the upstairs hallway to the breakfast room was like taking a trip back in time. We were always intrigued by the architecture, furniture, paintings, etc. Adding to this wonderful experience was the warmth and hospitality of our hosts, Peter and Denise. We definitely plan on visiting Ship's Knees again.
