“Nauset House Inn is a gem of a getaway.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2009

I recently returned from my third stay (in less than two years) at Nauset House Inn, in East Orleans/Cape Cod, and can't wait to go back. The inn, in a beautifudl neighborhood within walking distance of Nauset Beach, offers wonderfully cozy and artistically decorated rooms at decent prices - with the most scrumptious breakfast included! The common rooms, grounds, and on-site atrium (wait until you see the cherry blossom tree in bloom) are beautifully maintained; and the staff is friendly, helpful and so delightful....that you feel you're with "family" with each subsequent visit. Add to that a raftered diningroom that reminds one of an old English pub; a stone patio; a library of books; and a roaring fire during afternoon "wine & cheese" on a cool day - and you'll feel you're in Cape Cod heaven! The ambiance provides total relaxation!

We were enchanted with our stay at Nauset House Inn - a beautiful site, lovely inn with lovely people running it. A choice of homemade breakfasts in the dining room with the other guests all so interesting, convivial cocktail hour, charming and comfortable rooms, everything done so artistically. We are very anxious to return to this unique "jardin secret".

A group of us middle age working mothers with young children escape every Sept for a weekend to the Nauset House Inn. They always make us feel at home. The breakfasts are delicious, the rooms are all unique, cozy and charming and the location is perfect. "just a short walk to the beach." We couldn't be happier.

We love the Nauset House Inn with it's comfortable living room, beautiful dining room, quiet guest rooms decorated with folk art, and great breakfasts. Cindy, John and Diane and all the staff make you feel right at home. You know from the moment you enter the grounds that you are in a special place that is Cape Cod through and through.

How best to describe a stay at the Nauset House Inn? It's not just a place - it's a state of mind. You may arrive with the tensions of your regular life , but you'll leave feeling rejuvenated. The main building has nine rooms, each with its own particular personality and decor( thanks to the mixture of antiques and tastefull stencilling and hand painted furniture by Diane and Cindy) . They are not only mother and daughter, but also the innkeepers, with Cindy's husband John Vesella. They manage to keep the right balance between being attentive to the needs of their guests, while letting you enjoy the inn and the Cape at your own pace. The breakfasts are great and served in the dining room in a communal style that invites conversation with fellow guests who come from all over the U.S. as well as form overseas. There is a carriage house that has four addional rooms, as well as a small cottage (Outermost) that are located on the property that was an old apple orchard. There is also a large glass Victorian conservatory that provides a great spot for reading - as does the protected patio. All this and just a short walk or drive from Nauset Beach, one of the Cape's best. The location of the inn also makes easy to explore other areas of the Cape. The innkeepers are always available to suggest places to visit, and make reservations. If you want an easy, casual style you've found the best at the Nauset House Inn.

On the recommendation of a friend, we have stayed several days at Nauset House Inn for each of the past two years in mid-September and had a very pleasant, calming experience each time. The Inn is quite old and charming and has an understated, unfussy style. There is no television or other modern distractions from truly relaxing and getting away from it all. The owner/operators, John and Cindy, are friendly, caring people who work hard to make their guests' comfort and happiness their top priority; many of the same guests return year after year. Guests may start their days enjoying delicious, creative breakfasts at long colonial-style tables in the charming brick-floored dining room featuring a large stone fireplace. There is a wine and cheese cocktail hour in the comfortable, book-lined common room each afternoon. Cindy's mother, an artist and author, lives and works (and gardens) on site; we have had several interesting conversations with her about many aspects of life on Cape Cod and purchased several of her paintings which now grace our New York home. The inn is centrally located to all points of Cape Cod and is situated on a quiet street within walking distance to beautiful Nauset Beach, part of the Cape Cod National Seashore.

My wife and I, along with our 26 year old daughter who lives in NYC have been staying at the Nauset House Inn for several years now and we will continue to in the future. John, Cindy and Diane are wonderful hosts and have become good friends as well.

The Inn is perfect.......lovely rooms and baths, wonderful decor, super clean, great location within a ten minute walk or 2 minute drive to beautiful Nauset Beach, nice grounds, a wonderfull greenhouse to sneak away to for a read or rest........and just
big enough to still feel like "home".

Each morning a terrific Breakfast with several delicious and hardy choices are offered in a friendly and congenial atmosphere. The young people who work at the Inn are equaly as nice and anxious to make your stay a pleasure. We were very fortunate to find this special place on our very first trip to the Cape , and have stopped looking for other options because we are so very happy right where we are.

I probably shouldn't tell you what a great value it is compared to it's peers.......because
it seems it's getting harder and harder each year to reserve rooms, and often many months in advance.

I travel extensively for my business and stay at plush hotels and resorts on a regular basis. If that's what you are looking for , the Inn probably isn't the place for you, but if your'e looking for a home away from home ........it's going to be very difficult to beat !
