We arrived late on our scheduled arrival date and found the key to our room awaiting us in a convenient place, with a note to stop in the lobby in the morning to check in. We retired to our spacious, clean and well-appointed room and listened to the surf gently lull us in to slumber. Our large balcony over-looked the large swimming pool and just a few yards away and a short flight of stairs down, Nantucket Sound. In the morning we ambled down to breakfast, stopping on the way to check in with the friendly and informative front desk staff. The breakfast, included in the room price, was in a word: stout. Definitely a good start to the day. The beach is not the greatest as it was a little "weedy" for our tastes (we had just come up from the beautiful beach on Fenwick Island, DE) but it is private and quiet, and close. There seemed to be families with children, some very young, but not too many, and they were well-behaved. The hotel is off the beaten path, just south of Rt. 28, thus there is zero traffic noise. Just the beach and the gulls and wide open vistas of the Sound. Good stuff. Great location - between Dennis Port and Harwich Port. Myself, well-traveled wife and 14-yr-old-son give Pelham House a thumbs up! By the way, if you are looking for something to do at night - check out the terrific baseball at one of the Cape Cod Baseball league games nearby in Chatham or Orleans. "As American as summer baseball on Cape Cod", indeed.
