Ahhhhh! That's what we both said when we walked into our room. The inviting double queen beds, the decor and the ambiance were instantly welcoming, peaceful and warm. Staying at the Deerfield Inn during the height of the foliage season was perfect, and booking during the week saved us a little bit of money. We chose the Deerfield Inn because it was only a 35-minute drive to Charlemont where we were scheduled to zip line at Zoar Adventure Canopy Tours later in the day.
When we arrived the front entrance to the Inn was taped off and the door was locked...under construction due to damage caused by Hurricane Irene. The front desk was temporarily moved to the back of the building which was initially difficult to locate as the signage was not clear. However, the front desk clerk, immediately explained the situation, and made us feel very welcome. She was so friendly and accommodating in spite of the challenging work environment. All of the staff's usual office conveniences were either packed away in boxes or stored on table tops, but Debby and Helen made the best of the situation and our transitions checking in and out were smooth.
First thing in the morning, outside our room door, we found a lovely basket with fresh coffee cake, fruit, yogurt and a red rose. It's those little things that always make a difference when traveling.
I would love to stay at the Inn again especially when the restaurant is back up and running. I would definitely recommend the Deerfield Inn as a nice place to stay when visiting the Deerfield area particularly in the Fall when the leaves are changing color. Simply a lovely place to hide away for a few days to escape the traffic and noise of daily life. Kudo's to you, Deerfield Inn.
We decided to spend a little more money to have a bigger room. I think it was Room 163 n the second...

Thank you so much for staying with us, and thank you very much for taking the time to write a review. The ziplining must have been awesome with the weather we have been having. Debbie and Helen are so pleased they were able to make your stay a happy one, and I apologize that you had difficulty finding our interim front desk for check-in. Do please come back and see us when we are fully restored, because we think it will be really super, and well worth the wait! Cheers, and all the best.
