We used to love Brother's when they first opened up their restaurant on Maple Street, in down town Danvers. They were on top of their service, cooked and served quality food, and you could even see an employee smile - now and then. That was then. And now? My family and I couldn't be bothered to go back to see the boisterous Brother's - at their best. Or worst, however you look at it....
The last straw was in December, 2011, shortly before Christmas. We had ongoing problems with them, but decided we'd give them one more try. Everyone deserves a second or third chance, right?
Our family chooses take-out service, rather than sit-in service for many reasons, but mainly because my husband is disabled, requires a wheelchair, and take out makes life a lot easier for everyone involved. When one of us calls in to place an order, unlike many other restaurants in the area, they DON'T take your phone number.. It may sound like a very small annoyance, but in all actuality, if they unexpectedly run out of one of your orders, they can't call you back to ask if you'd lilke something else, etc.. It's not until you arrive to pick up your order, when you find out you're minus a meal
The food is tolerable. The mashed potatoes are either frozen or not made from real potatoes. The meat reminds me of "cellar meat." It's not rancid - yet, but will be in a couple of days.. I think the correct term for this conduct in service is called "cutting corners."
When my daughter, husband or myself call in an order, it feels as though we're being hustled and patronized through the process -- and it shows in our order, with errors and deficits! After so many times of receiving the wrong orders, it gets frustrating to have to get back in your car, drive back to Danvers, to pick up something that should have been included, in the first place!!
We just can't be bothered anymore.. Bye bye, Brothers... Hello Texas Roadhouse!!
