We stayed for a week, at discounted price, still not worth it. Will never return. Why this is bad for families with kids: to get to the pool, beach or tennis courts, you have to cross a very BUSY street with traffic including Mack trucks, garbage trucks and construction vehicles. Hotel is overcrowded meaning you wait wait wait for food. There are frequently no seats at the pool, and even if you find a seat, there are only 7 umbrellas for shade. When they run out, they just shrug and say you have to get there earlier in the morning. You can't even pay extra to get a cabana at that point b/c there are too few of them. All recreation costs extra: tennis, biking (only adult bikes are free), boating. Why this is bad for couples or singles: screaming kids and babies everywhere, menu selection is terrible (repeats at all "different" hotel restaurants), beach is not nice compared to others on cape cod, horrible service (place is largely run by teens on summer break), concierge mainly gives you resources but does not book things for you. This is a "Leading Resort of the World" and I cannot believe it. It should not be designated as such. Other places with this title do not have any of the chaos, lack of amenities and bad service that is present at Chatham Bars Inn.

“Disappointing stay......”

After spending two days at the nearby Wequasett Resort, the Chatham Bars Inn was very disappointing. Our room was upstairs
in a dark lodge. It was clean but small with very poor lighting.
Nothing worked intuitively from the shower to the switches in the room. The wireless internet connection did not work, but they did respond and corrected the problem. The lobby was drab and in need of a facelift.
The pool was a disaster with too many screaming kids and a poorly maintained pool house. The dreadful, loud music that invades the pool area is even piped underwater. There is no escape or peace. The beach was quieter, but the lounges and umbrellas were in terrible condition with no beach service.
We had a so-so lunch at the Boathouse. The setting was pretty
but the food was not very exciting. In the evening, we had drinks
on the patio of the lobby. It was not an improvement. The waitstaff were very slow, inexperienced and inept. We decided to go into town for dinner and left the next day.

“Poor customer service at an overrated hotel”

Chatham Bars Inn

Upon looking at the website, we had high expectations for this hotel. Chatham is a beautiful area and it was a gorgeous weekend. Unfortunately, our stay was severely lacking in the customer service realm. We were staying for a wedding and our room was not ready until the time the wedding started. The staff at the front desk when we checked in seemed completely disinterested with our concerns. (The wedding was at this hotel). The pool's hours were limited and there was no beverage nor food service at the pool. I would not recommend this hotel as they seem to see themselves as being above customer service.

“Refined elegance at Chatham bars inn”

Chatham Bars Inn

Jun 23, 2008

Recently stayed one night (would have loved to stay longer but had other fixed plans) at Chatham Bars inn,
Stayed in a Seaview cottage room (good size room) on 8th June- room was decorated in a cream/light brown colour palette, had 2 beds - very comfortable & good quality linens with a decent threadcount. Large window overlooking driving range, large window seat, seating area with two comfortable chairs, seperate table & 2 chairs by window. Large flat screen tv, bathroom small but immaculate with rainhead shower, L'Occitane toiletries.
Room has free wifi.
You have to call room service for ice, but they were very prompt..
As mentioned by a previous poster there is no lift & we were located on the 2nd floor but had no problem with our cases - Also we were asked if we required luggage assistence when we checked in. - so help is on hand if you need it

Pool area was nice, but not overly large & I guess it gets very crowded in the peak summer time. Jacuzzi was large. Poolside loungers are nicely padded & comfortable. cabanas available to rent.

Pre dinner drinks on the verandah were a real treat - what a view, for those who are interested I felt prices were reasonable - $7 for a G & T & $9 for a Cosmo. Drinks were well mixed and service was swift & attentive.

Dined in main restaurant & felt that prices were comparable to other places in Chatham - there were various menu choices for between $20 - $25 - we are Fish & Chips & Paella both were delicious. We did not have a reservation but were seated promptly at a table with a view of the sea.

Complimentary coffee is served each morning on the verandah - a great way to start the day after a walk on the beach.
Ate breakfast in the main restaurant (again with a view of the water) there is a breakfast buffet that appeared to be very popular but we are al a carte & enjoyed Eggs benedict & pancakes.

We asked for & were granted a late checkout - so do not be afraid to ask.

Several nights a week there is a beach bonfire - we did not see it but I imagine it would be great fun. The hotel also offer other facilities such as boat trips to a nearby beach & a harbor cruise - at weekends they produce a print out of activities (the lists were available at reception)

All staff were professional & courteous, our room was immaculate, location fantastic - we will certainly return

Great location, great service & excellent accommodations. We stayed in a suite with an ocean view. The room was beautiful with a large balcony, the bed was so comfortable (love the down comforter), the decor was tasteful, classical music was playing when we arrived in the room (nice touch) and the temperature of the room was adjusted perfectly. The accommodations are separate enough from the main lobby where it's a private and intimate. I would definately recommend this inn.
