“If you like historic houses”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2014

This was one of the nicest old house tours I've been on -- partly because of the volunteer staff who were super friendly and knowledgable -- but also because there were so many parts to the museum that I hadn't been aware of. These include the the Mural Barn, which was made much more interesting by the tour guide who told us all about the stories behind the pictures, and the North Beach Camp (a rustic beach shack that was transported from a disappearing spit of land to the museum site). Altogether you get so many levels of Chatham/Cape Cod history at this one site. We thought we'd have a quick 30 minute stop and ended up spending over 2 hours there.

“Fascinating Museum with Something for Everyone”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013

We read about this place on tripadvisor and decided to stop in for a quick visit. We stayed for three hours because in addition to some very interesting collections this museum has the most engaging docents I have ever encountered. They made each exhibit genuinely interesting and it was a pleasure to have the benefit of their knowledge and experience. We particularly enjoyed the old house, the fishing shack and the fishing exhibit.

“Much for a Little!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013 via mobile

This little gem is much more than an old house. One wing has the murals of Alice Stallknecht, who moved to Chatham in 1910. They are spectacular. Several other rooms are dedicated to the skills of F. Spaulding Dunbar who designed & built various boats in his own shop in Chatham. There is an exquisite collection of miniature duck decoys, a shell collection, Sandwich glass, & of course, the old house, a mansion in its time. Well worth the $6.00 admission!

“Impatient & Rude staff”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013 via mobile

They hurried us along and told us it would be impossible to read all the descriptions...so that we shouldn't bother. House looked very interesting but our tour guide ruined our experience.

“Brilliant Museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

We visited on the first day of opening for this year's season and the entrance was free that day the usual cost if $6.00 per adult. We were provided with our own guided tour of the museum which was interesting and informative. The staff (volunteers?) are lovely and very helpful. We particularly liked the camp building outside where we met Don and his family. Don was so enthusiastic about the camp building having stayed there for many years with his family. We had a lovely time and would certainly recommend this museum to anyone visiting Chatham
