We visit Chatham often, and have never been fans of the ambiance at the ever popular and beloved "Squire". It doesn't help that there is always a line there and I became ill last time we went. We have often passed by the Wild Goose Tavern but finally tried it this year. The room is very pleasant (as is the porch when weather permits) and the food is tasty from the varied menu. We enjoyed the goose fries, oyster po boys and quesadilla. It is pub food but really good and with large portions. The drinks were also well prepared and the waitress attentive to our needs, even though the place was quite busy. If there is anything I would criticize, it is the noise level in the large dining room. I little bit of noise absorbing material in the room would help, as sound is just bouncing around the place. Next time we will sit outside where I am sure it would have been quieter, but there will definitely be a next time and no more "Squire" for us.
