“Better than Ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013

We've enjoyed eating at Vinings in the past but the new location is even better than before. The tables are nicely spaced apart and the decor is simple, contemporary and elegant. The menu seems to have expanded offering a nice variety of smaller dishes and appetizers for those of us with smaller appetites.

The mussels appetizer was ample for a light meal as was the bowl of pasta. They offer a good variety of craft beer and wine and reasonable prices. Vinings new location seems to be a formula for success and as locals, we plan to make this a regular stop for us.

“Best Meal of the Summer”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013

After enjoying a wonderful movie in the new Chatham Orpheum Theatre, we decided to try Bisto on Main, which is the former Vining's Bistro in its new location. We were impressed. Simply put, wonderful food is being prepared here and served efficiently in a pleasant setting. We've lived in Chatham for over 25 years, so we have followed the ups and downs of local restaurants, which change from season to season and chef to chef. Bistro on Main is excellent right now, and we enjoyed the best meal of the summer right here.

I had grilled chicken, which was perfectly cooked and seasoned nicely. It was accompanied by buttery mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables. My husband chose swordfish, which he pronounced outstanding. The fish was thickly cut and perfectly cooked. Our son chose to have a light meal of soup and salad, both of which were beautifully prepared.

We will be back often now that the summer crowds have thinned.

“Very Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2013

Arrived in Chatham and stopped in for lunch. We couldn't decide if the batter of the fish (fish & chips) had a sauce inside or if it was not cooked thoroughly - very soggy and not edible. Fish was okay. Spinach salad with portabella mushrooms, feta and balsamic dressing was soggy and other than the feta, had no flavor. Burger was good. Service was okay - a little slow although we were seated quickly. Pricey, and would not recommend for kids.

“Good food and service - and they had a table!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

After storming out of Celestino's (see my review) we found ourselves with no reservation at 7 PM at the height of the season. The Bistro was recommended by the concierge at Chatham Bars (where the restaurants were booked for the evening) and we were glad they did. We were seated immediately. Service was friendly and efficient and the food was excellent - the flash fried calamari was particularly tasty and tender. Went back the next night and had the same experience - tables were available when the rest of the town was booked solid and the food and service were both excellent. Don't know why they don't fill up - maybe it's the new location.

“Great menu, but service has slipped just a bit, need to tighten it up, guys..”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

I have been a fan of this Chatham favorite for years. They have recently moved to a different site, slightly behind where they used to be, with indoor and outdoor seating. The new site is nice, and the menu remains excellent, but the service has slipped a bit. Both nights I dined here, I was early enough that I should have had great service. Instead, the service was disjointed and average. The first night we were served excellent bread with a lovely white bean and garlic dip. Service was timely and attentive. The second dinner, we were not offered any bread, and we felt rushed throughout our meal. Our server did not know a significant term on the special menu and even with questioning other servers, he remained puzzled. One of the dinners in our party had a special request, which we were assured would be carried out, and it wasn't. It was quickly corrected, but again, we were left to feel hurried and unreasonable. Again, the food was great, but the service needs to match. For this price, they need to do better!
